Hey gang got my boat back yesterday from the dealer. One question, coming out of the back of the Co2 detector in the main cabin is a wire that has what looks to be a little infrared device attached to it. It is about two inches in length and is attached to the galley wall. I asked the dealer what this was for, they did not know. I cannot tell if this is for the AV system or is part of the CO2 detection system. I have a 2008 2565. What do you think it is??

Could be for your remote to whatever is in the closet, DVD, CD etc.

Borst -- I have a 2565 and have the same doo hickey in my cabin. It is the remote sensor for the DVD player. In fact, DVD remote won't work if you don't point it right at the sensor...at least on mine. Assuming you have a dvd player.

Riddlek, thanks the mystery is solved. Yes I do have the DVD player, I guess this makes sense.

Borst -- I have a 5.7 Volvo Penta GI-DP 280 HP engine in my 2565. It has a fresh water flush hook-up on the engine. Has a blue cap on it. The manual is not real clear about whether you can run the engine out of the water w/ this flush hook-up. Any thoughts? I have one dealer telling me no, and another telling me yes. Volvo says ask your dealer. Lot's of help

Yes, it can be run out of water. Make sure you have the water on and it is flowing out of the out drive before starting the engine. Run at idle for about 5 min.till it gets to normal operating temp), turn off engine, then water.

Riddlek, I have a merc in my 2565. However, I have had experience with the volvo. Yes you can use that blue cap to plug a water hose into. As Snazzy stated just make sure the water is flowing. This is a great feature since you dont have to use those water muff jackets around the outdrive to pump water into the engine. It also allows you to flush freshwater in the engine if the boat is in the water.

Terrific! Conensus among two make it unanimous! I feel better knowing I won't burn up the engine.

Oh, and last but not least. Don't forget to screw the cap back on when finished.
