The launch is interesting, but I posted this for someone to tell me just what type of boat/ship
This boat is. I just do not recognize the configuration. Maybe I have just not woke up yet this ;morning.

I don't know the type of boat but that launch in just crazy!
 
That kind of launch is fairly common. I've seen USCG Buoy Tender launches done that way. The bow on this ship looks like it might be for icebreaking capability.
If somebody with better video capability than I, can pick out the Name, we can probably figure out where this happened and what the ship is.
 
Agree with j-d. That type of launching has been around for years, often used on smaller bodies of water that couldn't handle a traditional launch. I've seen videos of much larger ships launched that way.
 
Yup does look like an ice breaker.
sideways launch is common on rivers. Length ways launch requires extra caution so that the end in the water first doesn't sink before the whole ship becomes buoyant.

It has always been a mystery to me how yards can build a ship on beds that will later slide into the water without getting stuck. Many ramps are not as steep as that one yet gravity still works.
 
Agree icebreaker. That type of bow is designed to ride up on the ice and use the ship's weight to break it.
 
Yeah, I've seen videos of Ice Breakers doing it's job and that slanted hull riding up to the bow was evident and doing as willie said.
