What's up with the price of boats these days?

Of course - you would need to actually sell the items which went up or down in value to realize a gain or loss.

I have two cash buyers right now for my airplane, I just don't want to sell at the moment.

Just like with every financial cycle it never really matters when the highs or lows are unless you do buy or sell.
Whether that be your home, boat , car, or airplane there is no movement unless a transaction takes place.
IMHO - market timing is not for us but if one were to take advantage of these cycles it would require completing transactions.

I just purchased a used boat this week. Been shopping for a few months. What I learned was that during the housing crisis of 06-08, most manufactures scaled way back on their boat production of new units. Obviously because less were being bought during the recession. I was told numbers before and after, but don't recall.

They never really ramped up production again, so, there are less available boats on the market due to 10+ years of limited production of new units.

It could be a load of crap, I have nothing but a salesman's word on that, but, sounds legit to me.

Not sure about ramping back up but I know Formula scaled back to a skeleton crew in the recession and one guy's mom said he made a deal at cost for a new big Formula and hot most upgrades free just to keep the line going. If I recall, it was ~40 off retail.

I have also found that brokers do not respond very quickly or at all. I also look online at all hours of the day and night and will inquire with my information and never hear from the brokers. When I call them they say oh our system is not working properly blah blah blah. Too many "brokers" simply want to list boats and then just let the internet sell them.
