I know it's December but this is crazy slow if not for Footloose fixing up his boat the Pascal water heater there would be nothing going on at all! Someone must have something to share!
 
OK - Recommissioning after repower. Hope to launch by end of this week.

I miss all the chatter from you RO's in the NY area over the season up there.

We can boat in the winter here in NE FL, at least to some extent.

I still do not quite understand this "winterizing" and "seasonal pull-out" stuff. Y'all quit for part of the year? Odd. Just really odd... :)

Many, many moons ago, I participated in a "Predicted Log" race, held in conjunction w/ the SBR. Essentially, you predict timed legs of a course, then proceed with minimal navigation equipment: compass, paper map, stopwatch, tachometer ( no speedo, GPS etc ).

Accuracy of completing the course in realty compared to what you predicted determined the race result.

We followed the course entirely up on a plane, and when we slowed after crossing the finish line, we has a full "beard" of icicles along the spray line of the hull. For a location such as this ( New Orleans ) it was an unusual result.
 
Most of my free time is spent as a bilge rat, nothing exciting about that. But progress is being made; we actually make overnight cruises of 60 to 120 miles without incident.
 
Mama in her kerchief and I in my cap, are about to settle down for a long winters' nap . . . until the NY boat show in January. (with respects to C. C. Moore!)
 
When is the boat show this year I forgot all about it.
 
Yeah, sad times in the northern climes.

The big (to me) boat is asleep and under wraps. Come January I'll drive to Stuart, FL. Spend the month at our condo and work on the little 16' outboard boat instead. Never ends. :-)

Haven't been to the Javits Center show in 4 years. It lost its luster when it downsized. Too expensive and too little to see, IMO. I like the boat show at Stuart in January. Cheap, lots of vendors, easy to get to.
 
Finished winterizing and covering the boat a week ago today. Looking forward to Christmas, New Year's Eve and then off to Aruba for 10 days!

I made a template for new carpeting, need to send it to Corinthian for a price. Left a list of things at the marina for them to do over the winter.
 
The sad fact is that during the recession there weren't a lot of boats sold. The Glory days 60s 70s early 80s of affordable boats for middle class folks dried up. Affordable Marinas got harder to find. The result is there are less of our (DIY) type boaters out there. Did you notice that most of our participants have been here for a long time? New members are fewer in number every year. We are getting old and dying off. Bah Humbug

Going to chamnge engine oil this weekend. Winterized my fresh water system wit my new air compressor as many do here. Anticipate haul out next week and then shrink wrap. I'm one of only a few that hauls out over the winter at my marina.
 
- Both boats winterized and wrapped
- Finished my 35hr committment to the boat club
- Demo'd and sheetrocked bathroom
- Starting tile tonight if I have the energy
- Also building a garage if the guy doing the foundation ever finishes
 
Trailered the boat from Stony Point NY to Key Largo Fl. Got here 12/1. I'm here until march. Boat is in the canal in back. It's raining today or I would be out fishing. Maybe tomorrow.
 
I'm here, put my boat away couple of weeks ago - kind of hate to, but most of the marinas on LKN go into winter mode and are only open weekdays. So, no way to get to my boat on a weekend until after March 1st, and if I did I woould have to winterize again, no heat or power for the dry storage. So I throw in the towel, winterize and beg boat time from a few friends who have cruisers that they keep in year around.
 
Just back from West Marine and $242 poorer. Engine oil, filters, fuel stabilizer, antifreeze, desiccant . Lots of work to do Saturday.
 
Our marina here in Austin is having our annual boat parade. The lake is almost full and the weather is supposed to be fair!

Okay, okay so its been a while since I posted! I guess this is NBR, but then again so is most of this thread! I got married in June and I have my first son on the way, due in May! I'm so excited, but ridiculously busy.
 
I usually go to the show we like to take the ferry in, it makes for easy parking and gets us out on the water for a least a few minutes. I don't really have any projects this year hoping to keep the cost down for a change but I'm sure I will find something to do as always. I would like to replace the flooring in the galley but it's not a big deal. I also have to fix a leak in my rub rail in the port rear corner I finally found out why I always have water in the garage. This is also likely the reason I go through so many bilge pumps. I believe this is all my projects this year. I think I could complete everything in about a day.
 
I've been kept busy by people that don't read the weather and find out about well-forecasted storms before going boating.
 
Boating is very much alive here in Bermuda. In October there was a weekend of racing with the Americas Cup catarmarans. This week the International Moth Regatta is on. The Moth is a foiling single handed dinghy. You can imagine how fast they are.

Next weekend is the Bi Annual Christmas Boat Parade. Well over 50 boats ranging in size from the lower 20s to over 100'ers. Nothing short of spectacular.
