Your absolutely right. I lurk around this forum once or twice a day everyday and not much is going on. Someone needs to stir the pot a bit. Flutterby usually is right on top of things and does a good job of keeping the discussion going but, really it has been quiet. Maybe its the winter duldrums, the economy or maybe everything that could be discussed about the old swamp has been discussed. Maybe we could put forth some catagories that might be interesting such as: the strangest character you've ever met on the delta, the biggest fish you have caught, the best meal you've ever had, the best margarita you have ever had, best place for romantic adventures on the delta....who knows, the possibilities are endless.

I am California Dreamin' in North Carolina. We use to love taking a boat trip into the Delta this time of year. Pretty much had it to ourselves, enjoying all the waterfowl and the quiet. Once a friend of ours got us a visitors pass to Tinsley Island. We and the caretakers were the only ones there. Threw a bunch of their mesquite into one of those big barbeque pits they have there and had a great time. I still get out to SFO a few times a year, and maintian my Club Nautique membership for the occasional day trip.

Hatterasboatguy huh? Whatta ya have and where do you keep it?

There is always something going on in the delta!!

Wish I had something to write about...hoping to head to Napa for New Years Eve with friends. Should make a nice day trip. Plan to tie up to friends' dock on the river. Hoping for no fog.

Dave, congrats to the Admiral! I'm sure she'll do an awesome job as Commodore and that will be very supportive in the background!

Al, that sounds like a great way to see in the new year. I sure hope the weather cooperates! Sometime it is so gorgeous---and sometimes so s++tty.

Well, folks the politics are pretty quiet until after the first of the year. And then, who knows what will hit us???? I'll do my best to continue updating my boatered friends as things cross my inbox.

I find I'm spending more time on Facebook and less time on BE these days. A sign of the future????

There had better be a lot of Delta politics in January after that porkfest water package back in Novemeber.

It looks the the Sacramento Bee has dropped the Delta page from its online newspaper. You can still find the page here without updates. You can't access this page from the Bee main page at all.

http://www.sacbee.com/delta/

Sacramento Bee subscribers should complaint to the Bee about this.

It's pretty quiet for me as well. I'll be waiting for some clear days before hitting the water again.

Al, Napa sounds like a good time, you may even get to extend your vacation time if the fog rolls in on New Years morning. As has become our annual custom, we will be heading down to the Rusty Porthole on New Years Eve so that Dan can ski the Frozen Bun Run on New Years morning. If anyone is in the neighborhood, stop by and the Bloody Marys are on me.

Yes, we're discussing options if the fog sets in. I'm not crazy about the idea of running 5-6 hrs in pea soup on radar and GPS.

I have flexibility on time if we need to delay our departures. May have to drive to our friends' house if the fog is too thick.
