Where is everyone?

Well, I'm here. We've had a great, awesome summer but not much action for the boat! Went to check on her last night and HAD to take her for a quick spin. Sadly, there were many critters on the boat above and below. Spiders all over the deck, most likely barnacles underneath as I could not bring her up to normal speed. Normally, I don't worry about the fuel in the boat when I winterize but this stuff is from July 4th weekend, which will be nearly 4 months old when I put her away for the winter. Therefore, I'm hoping to run her down as much as possible so I can top-off a healthy amount.

what a terrific summer, but like all good things it's over for us.
on oct 16th, the zephyr goes for it's last cruise to it's winter home.

booooooooo

What's in store for the weekend? We'll be on the boat, but not sure what we're going to do yet.

Chris, you should add stabilizer NOW. Ethanol fuel that old will give you problems. And yes, the barnacles are very bad this year, I've scraped my metal surfaces twice already.

We're still on the boat every weekend, all weekend - will be until the end of October!

This coming weekend looks like it's going to be a good one - we'll be out on the water.

I purchased the fuel on July 6th at Haverstraw. Mike, Any recommendations? Regular stabilizer, ezorb or both?

It's been a great summer! SO many laughs!! I'm pretty much in hiking mode now...but I may still get a little more boating in.

Soccer started, and my life ended. I'll be down this weekend, just not sure when.

I got a dpressing phone call yesterday. They guy that stored my boat last year called to schedule the hauling. I told him I can't even think about that for at least a month.

Come on now!! It's only mid-September. You are all talking like your season is over. There's still 6 good weeks left.

With this attitude, it's going to be a long "cranky" winter on BE.

Pete...not if you are working and have kids in school, then your life is not really your own. Isn't it GREAT to be retired!

We spent last weekend in Port Jeff, this weekend we are heading to Northport. Weather is still looking good for this weekend.

Dan I know your season is about to start.

I only have Sunday this weekend to enjoy on the boat, I will hope to make the most of it. The admiral is a teacher and once she returns to work it's like the summer comes to a screeching stop.
I may come out a little early this year and do a got cleaning before it gets wrapped to make it that much easier in the spring. If my bottom paint help up this year the it will be a very easy spring for a change.

Hope to see you all on the water this weekend.

Dave it may be starting, but before I can even touch the boat I have to move it to a work zone. Love those Southern marinas (not). Then I get into the big stuff. Hopefully we get this overwith easily and things go smoothly. Since we live on Freedom something like 7 months of the year it takes a toll on her, and me, getting her ready to rock.
But it's worth it.

It's fun but sometimes being out of sync with the folks we spend the rest of our time with genuinely sucks.

Dan when are you planning to start your work/season this year?

We'll see. The hurricane patterns have been favorable thus far. We (all of us) can only hope they remain that way. The paths were supposed to flatten out but so far they have not, continuing to break North and East avoiding most populated areas.

John;

Point well taken.

For the most part retirement is wonderful, although there is times when I wish I was back at work.

At least then, everyone knew that I was in charge. Now it's a day to day battle reminding "everyone" that I'm the boss. (A losing battle).

Hi everyone, sorry I've been AFK so much and not contributed lately. Too much going on in my life these days. We have been on the boats, havent gone too far on the big one though, mostly used it for spare parts. I have to post a pic of what ethanol did to my carburetor on the Glastron, despite being used regularly the metering block showed clear signs of water damage and corrosion.

So I took the parts off the big boat and kept the little one running. We got to Lake George again for Labor Day weekend, too bad the weather sucked but hey we got to hang out with some friends who have a place in Ticonderoga and ride in their '57 Chevy. So things do work out :)
