I am getting ready to sell my boat as I prepare to purchase a new one next year. I live in Northwest NJ, an hour and a half away from the Jersey Shore and about four hours from Lake George, NY and I am trying to decide whether to bring it up to Lake George to sell or down the shore. The boat is a 2003 Monterey 248 LSC with a brand new (2018) trailer, in very good condition, no bottom paint, and has been used on Lake George its entire life. So, as a fresh water boat, will it sell better on Lake George or at the Jersey Shore where there are more potential buyers? Also, do you have recommendations for marinas/dealers that would sell on consignment at either location? I have never sold that way before and I am not familiar with the process. I don't know how much a dealer would charge to sell it, how the "for sale" price is determined etc. Finally, should I do a survey on the boat to show transparency and full disclosure for potential buyers? I appreciate any feedback.
