So we just got a used pair of skis and am looking for a nice spot near Wantaugh to re-learn (skied a looooong time ago). I see people skiing in some high traffic areas and was looking for a quiet, low traffic spot in the area. Any ideas?

You looking to ski in Wantaugh? I don't know how much good that is going to do you. Why not try Mountain Creek (Vernon Valley) in NJ. They're not to far away and have ski lifts. Walking back up the hill here will take you 6 times as long as skiing down and I promise that will get old fast.

Its way too soon to start thinking about snow. Lets assume I was talking about water skiing for the moment.

Oh sorry, thought you meant snow. I'm not too familiar with that area. Many here are though so I'm sure you'll get some good info.

Probably depends on the boat, but should be able to go in the flats. At least 2 to 3 feet at low tide, more that high. Nice big open area jsut east and west of RM bridge too.

It's been years since I did some water skiing. But depending on the tide, we used to water ski in the low use channel during the week just east of the wantagh parkway 2nd bridge. It was a very low draft boat but high tide you should be fine. The channel is not used to often. I remember very litle we used as guidance for our boundaries.
