under the v-berth! That is crazy, but so cool. I would have never imagined such a thing. I didn't believe my eyes when I saw a '92
365 Express with an optional jacuzzi in the cabin under the v-berth.

Anyone ever seen or, better yet, used one? That has to be the craziest thing I have ever seen on a cruiser that size--and the location too!

Is it just me living under a rock, or is this a surprise to others too? Cool option or a liability?

Must have one hell of a huge fresh water tank to fill that thing!

Where do you put the matress and bedding???

Don't you think the water will splash around a bit???

Lame idea if you ask me.

You want a hot tub, go to the Hot Springs dealer and get a real hot tub like mine!

It's basically a bathtub with jets. You'd only fill it when hooked to shore water, and you wouldn't keep it full.

All I think when I see it is lost storage.

All I think of when I see it (beyond moisture damage, water damage, mold/mildew, etc) is what fun I could have had with one of those when I was single and in my 20's! :-)

Believe it or not, it's a factory option!

It is only meant for use while at the dock and while using shore power and shore water. What interesting, is that it has a 98 gal water tank. That's roughly double to what I would expect on a boat that size.

I do remember that option from one of the Toronto boat shows. Actually I remember the babe that they had demoing the unit.
You see she had on a pretty sheer Bikini and the water had sort of cooled down and Uh,,, I remember it well.

Around here this time of year we just walk off the swim platform and find ourselves in a giant hot tub. In all seriousness, our V-berth could easily handle a hot tub but we would loose the storage beneath the bed

It's a real boatshow eye-catcher but the dream is not the same as the reality. My boat has a bathtub (no Jacuzzi) and people remark about it all the time. In 14 years though, its been used only twice as a bathtub. You need a huge amount of hot water to make it attractive. I upgraded my HW heater to a 20 gal and I turn up the thermostat all the way up if someone contemplates a soak. Even with that, the water is barely tepid.
You can use all the shore water you want but you still have to heat it.
Great lookin' picture though.

Yea, I can only imagine. What blows my mind is that even in my slip, and despite decent breakwater protection, our boats get jostled around quite a bit by wakes. Seems like water would get everywhere.

Of course, I've never heard of it since, so it would appear to be an impractical idea.

It would something else altogether if it were a tub within a fully molded shower enclosure. Like this one found on a Wellcraft 46' CPMY:

SR360aft, I too have a full sized tub but no jacuzzi. I use the shower in it but only the grandkids have actually used it as a tub.

As I recall another problem was that the drain line is tiny. I've been told wait an hour for it to fully drain.

And as the others have said, it was designed to only be used at the dock.

interesting... why not. cost very little to the builder, just finish the interior with gelcoat and add the plumbing. i'd guess taht an instant heater on the fill line should help, the the hot tb heater can take over... can't you use salt water in a hot tub ? if the heater is rinsed ?

two issues i can see with this setup...
-the boat must be real nose heavy when that's filled up
-only the inner hole fills up, the rest is just a splash area, so that thing is real small... too small for two, so what's the point ?

what's i'd like to find would be a foldable pocket with a floating frame I could tie to the swimplatform in winter when the water is too cold to hang around for a while... problem is to find a pump that could be installed above water :-(

Pascal you might want to check out the "yachtub" I belive its called. I am too cheap so ya might get a laugh out these.

I build these things on the beach. Gives my stuff a work out. Like the fire pump , portable gen , chain saw etc.

Started the deal when I used to own the jet skis. Now its , well , what it is. Nice in the rain or something when you are out there.

Build a frame and line it with a tarp or two.

Heated via copper coil that is placed over the fire. I start with a sump pump 110 off the gen and change to one of them rule sumps for a boat. With the little 500 bilge pump. I make the thing my filter kinda using some gravel. powered by a 12 V battery. etc etc

Good for a laugh any way. Not a chance I be posting any of the good pics LOL

LOL... could have used different models in the second picture though :-)

something else is inherently wrong with having the hot tub under the bed... closing it up and making the bed probably is too long a distraction :-)

<grin>

Like I said I aint posting any of the good pics. I value my life a bit more these days.
