WiFi cable - access

the USB port on the netgear router is able to support a USB printer but I appears its not able to be a data access port on the phone. got apple involved, the personal hotspot works fine with an Iphone6 but so far no joy with an IPhone5. not sure what the hang up is yet.
 
I forgot about the "print server" many routers tether to their USB port effectively negating the original phone USB to the USB router connection idea.
Vic I assume both the I6 and I5 are on the same carrier if so which one? I thought the I5 did LTE or 4G am I wrong?
Sorry guys I haven't been keeping up with my posts lately, I'm dealing with some nasty business issues any atty's on here? I need an opinion PM me.....
