I'm about to put my new Lexan windows into their frames. These are the lower cabin windows in a 1982 25' Grady White. The frames have a slight curve to them, thus the Lexan choice. Anyways, last night I noticed there's a thin groove in the frames, about 3/32 wide, I'm assuming this is for some kind of molding. It would be great if someone could find me a site where I could purchase some.
That would be helpful because I'd love to put the frames back on the boat without the windows since there's 4 pieces of wood the frames screw into, and I'll be doing this alone. I could put the windows in later. The plan up to last night was to c-clamp the Lexan into the frames and let it set up and then search for a helper to install the completed frames.
Anyways, I'm guessing there's a 1/4" round or maybe an angled rubber (?) molding out there with a 1/16" wide x 1/8" deep flange that would tuck into this groove and keep the Lexan curved while the silicon sets up.
Also, on another thread I was told to use silicon with Lexan for compatability issues. I found the black GE Silicon II at Home Depot, but later on in the day I noticed the marine store sold "Marine Silicon" (course it was 3 times the price). Will the GE stuff do just as good a job? I don't want any leaks....
