We have a 96 325 and are trying to fix it up. Both salon windows have a loud 'screeching' sound when closing them. We think it is just the rubber causing it?? Any suggestions? If replacing the rubber is what is needed... how do you do it? - I did notice the felt under the windows is in not great shape ... I supose this could cause the window to ride lower and therefore metal to metal... is the more likely cause? If so how easy is it to replace? - THANKS

One of the windows on my 2896 does that, too. I'll bet its some sort of degradation of the rubber. I was thinking that maybe one of those silicone "belt dressing" type sprays might solve it, but I haven't had time to try it out...

be careful the glass is not contacting the mounting screws. there are usually rubber pieces holding the glass away.

If you ever decide to find those felt thingies, please post here - I need to replace them too and need to find a source (1995 325).

It sounds to me like the felt track in the frame is bad. You should be able to procure this from your Carver dealer. We have gotten this for many customers...it takes time, but it is atainable. Have your hull identification number so the dealer knows which window system is in the boat as not all year 325's have the same system. Keep in mind that some dealers won't take the time to trace this stuff down, but they should. Keep me posted as I can have our parts dept try for you.

Is it really hard to replace the track? How does it come out on those aluminum frames???

it's really just a press fit into the frames. The hardest part will be getting the windows out so you can replace the felt. They SHOULD be able to be lifted up into the upper track so you can slide the bottom out

Thanks for that info. Thought it would be a MAJOR project to repalce glass, should one get broken. I'll try the 'push up & pull out' because my tracks need replacement also.
