Hello,

I need some advice on what sort of setup to go with. I have a skiff that I want to mount a wiper assembly on. The front glass is 32 in. wide by 26.5 in. tall.

Like anything, there are complications. I need a low profile motor if I plan to mount it top/center as my sounder is there. There is a company, ATI, that makes such a motor. My problem is that all of the places in town sell the unit with a 2 1/2 inch shaft. The company makes the same unit with a 1 1/2 inch shaft. I think I want the shorter one as I am just going through aluminum. I am also not sure what size arm and blade to get. I wonder if I should mount it off to one side and have the 'park' set up to be off to the side? Obviously I would like to get the largest blade that the motor could handle but we have a good deal of sleet, snow, and freezing spray to contend with here. The larger setups may have difficulty with those elements.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I know I could re-position the sounder bracket but I was looking for an easy fix. I have only looked at the ATI brand. They are quite spendy here (ATI 1000-$184.00) and to special order the 1 1/2 inch shaft would be even more expensive. Any other name brand suggestions? Is it important to buy the units that have several sweep angles? The motor would be wired in to my panel so I do not need or want a multi-speed setup.

This is the one that I am looking at: http://www.reddenmarine.com/site/new-detail.cfm?id=AFI36210
