I've done it for the past 6 seasons. A boat in the water with approved engine room heaters would last days without power with lows even in single digits. I wouldn't try it much further north than MD, but here our water is warm enough.

For you on a lift, I totally agree. Use the boat, enjoy it, re-winterize (unless it's like last winter!).
