Does anyone have a good general winterizing punch list. I plan to run a 50/50 anti freeze mix through the cooling system while on the muffs (after draining everything from the drains). Then change the outdrive and crank case oils and fog the engine. Is that pretty much it?

I know it's a little early, but it's my first season and i just want to be prepared. That brings me to another question: What fogging oil to use. The previous owner said he always fogged with Marval Mystery Oil. I've always felt that it's best to stick with whatever oil etc that an engine has always used. I've never liked the idea of switching brands or products. Is the MMO a good product to fog with for winter storage? I've heard a lot of people speak of it but I don't have any direct experience with it.
The statement about fogging and using whatever oil the engine has used sounds a little weird but fogging a motor means either pouring a very light oil like Marvel Mystery Oil or buying the fogging oil in a spray can into the carb while the engine is running. You usually do this as the last event concerning the motor because you need to stall the motor with the oil in the carb and you do not want to start the motor after it is fogged.

You can also remove the gas filter drain it half way and replace with some 2cycle oil and a stabilizer such as seafoam. This is recommened for EFI engines(in the mercruiser manual) because fogging can cause problems for injectors. Tom

Is there a document on the best way to do the water systems ? I know there is an order to doing the hot and cold. Will be doing my own this year.
Radiowaves, I'm doing mine first time this year as well. I've purchased a hot water tank by-pass kit which will allow me to get the antifreeze to the outlets beyond the tank. From what I've read you don't want to fill your hotwater tank with a/f. Once the bypass valve is open you need to hook a/f mix in b/4 the 12v pump,then open the hot water faucets (closest first) until pink comes out.Repeat with the cold side. Also don't forget to drain the connection from the engine to the water heater(this is the auxiliary heating coil). You need to take off both ends at the engine and then blow air thru one end til you hear air coming out the other side.
