Old Symbol's radar arch has about 1 1/4 inch wiring chase which seems to be discontinuous at the sharp curve where the vertical and horizontal parts of the arch meet. The arch is filled with foam, so wires can not just be snaked through it. I want to add more fun stuff to the arch and need to run more wires - one with a rather large computer-slot type fitting on the end. Bottom line is = I need more room for wires and the question is - How to make more room. I really don't want to cobble things up, like running them on the outside surface of the arch.
I have considered:
1 - cutting the inside surface of the arch around the existing chase, laying the wires in, and putting the removed pieces back in place with 4200 or some such sealer-mastic. I'm a little worried about the lost strength and integrety of the arch. Its on the weak side to start with I feel.
2 - cutting 2" PVC pipe in half, running the wires inside and attaching them to the inside-under side of the arch = medium cobble factor.
3 - because the arch is a little weak parallel to the beam, I have considered running a PVC pipe from below the center of the arch to the lower starboard end of the arch= a cross brase. This has a very high cobble factor = least desirable.
Please make a better suggestion. OH, and one that will not take lots of time. I want to get going by mid-May.
thanks
