hopefully someone can answer this or point me in the right direction. i have 2 batteries and a battery switch(the 1 or 2 or 1+2 kind) the direction seem to say to take a positive lead from each battery to the appropriate lug on the switch then take the positive lead from the engine and branch circuit breaker panel to the common post this all seems to make sense to me but what i dont understand is where do i attach the negative lead from the engine?
do i just connect it to the negative terminal on the closest battery? or does this need to go to a ground somewhere? the engine is a 1996 mercury 150. any help would be appreciated.
