Thanks for bringing us a rainy weekend!

I thought you where supposed to go in on Tuesday? I'm glad to see you got an early start to the season. I was told yesterday that my platform should be shipping tomorrow or Friday the latest, it should arrive Wednesday or Thursday next week. As soon as I mount it I will launch this is the latest I have ever been to launch, I hope it's worth the wait.

FWIW - I believe it was Gee I saw with a pad and paper pacing off boats that were already in the water. I could be wrong as I was just driving thru looking for someone but that's what he appeared to be doing. He was on C dock when I went by.

I wonder why he would be doing that????

Last fall I was told by him directly, "Every boat in the yard or in a slip will pay based on LOA next year" Of course, pacing off vs the tale of the tape will probably yield different numbers.

"Pacing" must be one of the acceptable practices.

Haverstraw used to send down a couple of dockboys who would fight over who was going to hold the dumb end of the tape to do the measuring. They measured mine to be 36' because they did not want to disturb the cockpit cover or windshield.

Showing the marina the boats documentation or Mfg's documents did not seem to make a difference. When I went with them to re-measure, removed the cover and opened the windshield so that we could hold the tape level, . . . .surprise my vessel had shrunk to the 32' we claimed it was.

Unless they can walk on water, I would not be happy with pacing.

My bill is also paid if full but it also says 44' not much to stand on if they measure it and disagree with the LOA. That said if I where to leave for deeper water they too would be measuring LOA as do most marinas. We have all grown accustom to paying stated size vs LOA but I'm not sure we have much to fight about but to say I'm not happy about it is an understatement. It's not going to help business but it's beyond our control.
I'm sure they are thinking if they loose a few boats they will make it up on total footage and lower there cost at the same time. Not my business model but then it's not my business.

Dave, just wait until you add that 4' swim platform extension - add another $300+!

I was already expecting this when I ordered it. This is not a surprise it was a consideration before I ordered it. It's the gift that keeps on giving. I'm waiting for pictures but I have been told it's shipping tomorrow he had only a few things to complete today in the morning but it's shipping in the afternoon and takes five days to get here now I have to hurry up and finish the bottom paint and polishing.

If they want to change the way they measure next season that's fine, I think alot of people have already paid the bills, I think they will have a problem collecting this year. They should have told everyone this before billing the old way, should be interresting.

OK, so how did we go from Woo-Hoo to I see someone counting off paces... John..... how can you see from accross the marina and with a large boat in front of you. Are you stirring the pot??? LOL. Maybe he is making a list on all the dock repairs and water repairs needed... It is the 15th of April and all the water should be on and working correctly.

Todd, your in the first picture. See?

I was driving thru the marina Bob when I saw the pacing and Dave's post about his new swim platform reminded me of what I saw. Sorry to hijack your "Woo-Hoo" Spit happens! ;)

I still agree with "Woo-Hoo" even if they hit me up for the extra. I'm not sure if it's right or wrong but I went let it bring me down I'm too psyched up for the new season.

"Woo-Hoo" "Woo-Hoo" "Woo-Hoo" "Woo-Hoo" "Woo-Hoo"

I think we all need a few cocktails on the docks to discuss further.

I would need an invitation and there is an open invitation to visit me over at the "dark side" ;)

First round of drinks is on Starry Night!

And BTW - the past few weekends the weather was nice. WHo launched this week and now we got a weekend full of rain?
