Buy a 17 year old Formula boat, with 730 hours on it? My wife and I really want to get back on the water, but since our new arrival a year ago, we are tight on money, and need a boat that can handle the Chesapeake bay well and have cabin shelter for the little one. We're not going to have a hell of alot of extra time and money to throw at problems, so an older boat worries me signifigantly, but may be a feasible way to get back on the water now.
Boat is a 1989 Formula 242LS with a 454 Mag that was supposedly rebuilt five years ago (no documentation though). End of season 2002 work: New Bravo drive, fuel pump, fuel filters, water pump housing/impeller, plugs/cap/rotor, tune up, fuel lines replaced. New manifolds/risers.
Would I be crazy?
