Some impressive piloting too!

Gutsy! We had a couple of women buy our dink back in the day. It was powered by a 15hp 4 stroke. Well, one of them was sitting on the side and yanked the pull start. It took off and dumped her in the water. Of course the kill lanyard was not attached to her so it was good to go since she had just filled it up. Fortunately it moved away from her and went into a tight circle. Myself and another were ready to go out in another dink but the deputies showed up and managed to hook the fuel line with a docking pole.
Another time a gang of us were water skiing on the Delaware. It was my turn and my pal was driving the tow alone (yes, bad move). That was the only way we could ski behind 25hp. He pulled the start cord and it dumped him over the transom. In this case the boat went into a tight circle with him in the center! He managed to jump up and close the throttle mounted on the side of the boat. Scared the crap out of all of us!

I wonder if they practice that move to take on fleeing fugitives.

I was on a jetski at idle switching seats with my daughter, removed lanyard from life jacket, tried to switch, we both fell in. The Jetski went into a circle as designed and I was able to grab the lanyard on second pass. Life lesson....stay off Jetskis, LOL JK

BTDT as well. I dumped both of us into the drink inside an inlet at Moorea. It was a slow non-eventful get-off. The water was calm and warm. I thought it was like riding a motorcycle and that did NOT work. Sharks everywhere and seen them prior to the rental, hence apprehension. I don't know how she did it but somehow Deb went over me and back onto the ski. Surreal. It was a while before we were both aboard and she has not and never will get on one again.

A few years back, I had the opportunity to participate in a "hostages on a ferry" exercise in the Hudson River between NYC / NJ. While underway southbound, the ferry was boarded by combined USCG / NYPC / NJSP Special Ops. Very cool to watch from aboard the boarded boat!
