I'm in the market for a small (8-9') dinghy that is stowable and, before I pull the trigger on a new RU-260 from West Marine, I figured I would check here to see if anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale.

I need a small stowable outboard too.

What is your definition of "stowable"?
 
I have a very stow able 14' kaboat (kayak width). It's 1 summer old and I have a 6hp 4 stroke mercury with it. Gets to about 21 mph wot. Just got an 11' whaler so I won't need. Shipping will be an issue. Check out kaboat on eBay, it's a blast.

Good question...

By stowable I mean something that is capable of being rolled up to a reasonable small size (large suitcase?) and then being stored down in my lazarette. I would assume that it would have either an inflatable or slatted floor to keep the boat under 60lbs.

My intended use is to ferry the zoo over to the beach for bio-breaks on the rare occasions that we are rafted up overnight and no one else has a dinghy. So it will probably spend a lot of time rolled-up down below.

Don't get the slatted floor - most people say it is a pain and not as good as the inflatable floor. I have the inflatable floor and it is excellent.
 
I have a brand new zodiac zoom 260 still in the box. It has a wood floor which I got for dog.
I even have a cover I bought for it and. 3.5hp like new 2011 tohatsu motor.
Not sure I will use it and may sell it.

Thanks, guys. I know the limitation of the slatted floor but in this case the ability to easily set it up and break it down is the priority over comfort.My animals are only 12lb each so with the addition of a rubber mat on the bottom for protection this seems like it would fit the bill for quick hops to the beach for the animals. We are usually rafted up with friends that have dinks but this season is already feeling much different years past and I need to be be prepared.

I have the whaler for my longer trips where we will be mooring out for more than one night and I need to ferry people.

Dave, is the wood floor one piece? or does it breakdown?

I have a Mercury 270 hypolon air deck (its about 4 years old ( not used the last year and 1/2) I got a 13 whaler and dont use it any more. I would like to sell it, give me couple of days to see what I want for it (and I will check the registration for the actual year).

BTW I live in Bellmore.

Jeff, I have the Merc 270 with the air floor and a 4hp 2 stroke mercury. Got it for taking dogs for a walk and shuttling people to the beach (i.e. Sore Thumb). She planes with me on it alone. I got the 4hp 2 stroke because I wanted something light to take on and off the dink when on the hook. To be honest, I never deflate it or take the motor off because it is a pain in the ass. Most folks with dinks start out thinking they will deflate, but most never do. The Merc 270 has served us well for quite a few years - it is a good dink. Good luck, it looks like you have 2 good options on this thread... If you can find a 2 stroke I highly recommend it because you do not have to worry about how you lie it down and having the oil run out of it. I got mine new from busters and it was one of their last small 2 strokes they sold.

Might consider a Portaboat. Folds to 4" thick by 8' long. I used to keep it on the foredeck. People thought it was a surf board. Goes like a bat on 3hp which I keep under a seat. They set up faster than an inflatable inflates. I use it so much, I keep it assembled on the swim platform. Much lighter and takes less room than a Walker Bay
 
I had a portabote. Sold it last year. Assembly was a bitch but great boat.
