As some of you may know, I contracted with Atlantic Towers to build me a hard top in December of last year, took them a little while to send me the final renderings for my stamp of approval, then I kind of dropped the ball for a bit on signing off .
Signed off around the last week in January, was originally told 6 to 8 weeks from the time I sign off to the time they have it installed. Ok there were delays, sh$t happens so I can't get to excited about that (I am getting mellow in my old age)
Then I get this email today:
Hi Walter,
> Just a update. Your top is complete and while I could get it
> delivered, we are down to only one independent installer and he will
> not be able to get to Long Island until the weekend of 5/16/08. Your
> installation is relatively straight forward and if you want it
> delivered for your yard to install let me know. Delivery is $225. All
> drivers and installers are independent and are moonlighters, so they work weekends only.
> Regards,
> Shelley
So my dilemma is this:
Do I wait, for them to do it, or hire another guy to do it? I wanted them to do it so there was no BS, about the install that may void any kind of warranty. Problem with waiting is I need a new enclosure and cannot have AMC make one till the top is installed (they need to take measurements), AMC promised me that they would have the enclosure done in a week(once the top is installed) since I gave them a 50% deposit in January.
I emailed Shelly to send me over instructions on how to install the top so I could show the guys at MRD (the shop guys at the Anchorage) to see if this is something they could do.
The cost Atlantic wanted to charge me for the install is $600.00
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Walter
What really pisses me off is the fact that they did not do what they promised (installation time) and are not coming back to me with their hat in their hand offering me something to make up for this.
I must be the only smuck still around that cares about my customers.
