I've got my sights set on a Yamaha jet boat as a fun second boat. I know they are expensive - looking for a used or left over model. And I know I am going to "pay the price."

I am looking for some input on the quality of the boat - longevity of the motors - general overall performance. I remember someone posting in the summer who was looking for one - don't know the outcome of that.

Anyone have a comment?

I've seen them at shows and they look real nice, but I've never been in one on the water. There is, however, a very active forum at www.yamahajetboaters.com Great guys over there who have first-hand experience.

I have limited experience with them and know they can be fun but I can verify that fuel efficiency is not their strong suit... far from it.

Daughter and her husband have a 23 footer for about 6 years. Quality is very good and decent storage. Performance is Ok but not great considering its 280hp (2 x 140). Water skiing behind it is so-so but it does give a good pull out of the hole. It does take a few minutes to get a grip on low speed maneuvering.
