Yamaha Jetboat

The yamaha's are alot nice than the sea-doos.
I have seen one and some of them are more like real boats than large jet-skis.
Do it and buy me one too!

Seadoos are old school. Yamaha has the nicest boat hands down. Lots room etc. BUT ITS A JETSKI. not a boat

Rob

Which model?
I saw one with nice seats on transom.
Still a jet boat.

We had hinkley at watch hill this weekend.
It has arneson's jet drive.
He pulled out of second slip to dock and wind caught him.
Thought he was gonna wipe out all the bows on "D".
Scary.
The jets in reverse don't seem to bite.

I looked heavily at buying a new Yamaha 190 before I bought my used Regal 1800LSR. Yamaha purpose built the motors in those boats for marine use, unlike some marinized P.O.S. GM motor. I believe that 4cyl motor pumps out a hearty 180 hp. Considering my Regal's VP churns out 190 hp from a big 4.3L V6, that's really impressive. By nature, the jet drive is far more efficient in translating the crank power to the pump that any typical I/O set up as well, so you have far less power loss at the Yamaha's jet pump than the I/O's propeller. There's also nothing to lop off, if you should accidentally end up in shallow water with the Yamaha. They're impressive boats. A lot of the guys put "thrust vectors" on the jet drive in order to help maneuver the boat at slow docking speeds. I dunno why Yamaha hasn't started installing those from the factory yet, but they should!

Any jet by design is terrible. Its just what it is . There are fins to help it track.

I test drove one Sunday. I was able to dock it . It didn't help it was a Sandy damaged one though. Everything was stiff.

Anyway I pulled the trigger. I bought the 212 SS. Ill keep u posted. I pick it up Friday .

It looks nice and goes like the heck

Rob

That looks really sweet.
Lots of seating!

Best of luck with it.
Let me know when we can go wakeboarding or waterskiing!

Congrats Rob. Enjoy!

I am tempted to get a wave runner, but I hear they are a headache, but still thinking of getting one... Decisions, decisions..

Dude ,
we only go around once ...... Ill be by with it after I get it ... u may want one of these ...

Rob

Don,
we have to hook up while ur around !

Thanx everyone ...

Rob

You keeping on a trailer, hi/dri, or slip?
My issue is I think I would have to replace my truck to tow it.
I seriously have looked at them for like 4 years now but never pulled trigger.

That sounds like a plan.....I'll be on Long Island for about 4 weeks with the coach .....starting Labor Day weekend. I'll give you a call. :)

Dave,
it only weighs 3,000 lbs. Anything over 6,000 is a concern for most SUV's

Rob

If u don't want one better not come for a ride ...

Congrats and enjoy!!!!

When my 18 year old bowrider actually sinks I'm so torn between a jetboat or a center console... reading how much you love it makes me think the jetboat might just be more pure fun

I will have to look. My truck can handle 3k

"I will have to look. My truck can handle 3k"

FWIW - well under for most any jet boat with trailer and loaded ready to use.
Need to be around 4,500# or more for the dual engine boats.

Hope this helps
