We are on our 3rd boat. I replaced the depth sounder in the first 2.
We've had our current boat since November. The Depth Sounder it came with worked inconsistently at first. 80+ degrees this weekend so a bunch of us went out and anchored overnight. The depth sounder is now blinking with what looks like a bunch of 8's.
I assume she is dead. It's a Lowrance 3500.
1 - Why do these things break so often?
2 - Should I replace the guage with another Lowrance 3500 guage? Or should I pull her out of the water and replace the thru hull transducer first?
3 - Is the Lowrance 3500 and good and reliable unit? The boat is 11 years old now and this looks to be the original.
Thanks,
