You guys are going to love this one....

A hole in the water where the money goes...

Far too many things to mention, but soon the mold and rust will demonstrate the error of their ways...

Just IMHO of course. It is his boat. I just don't want to be near it.

I'm not going to watch 30 minutes of that, but from what I glean from the comments he removed the radar and said his iphone navi app is as good as radar?

"said his iphone navi app is as good as radar?"

... and "ll that other stuff". Yeah.

Yup. He said that. That and a mess of other things that led me to believe they are an accident waiting to happen.

but the video was well produced for youtube

Apparently I need to replace my radar because all of the old radar stations are out of date, good thing I have a smartphone!

"over 3 million views??"

Historically, it seems that people get a kick out of "a good train wreck".

I watched the whole video and liked it! That's a pretty sweet boat. He knew enough to be legal, made sure his nav lights were working, the registered name was affixed, etc. I'm not sure what happened with the radar comment but I think they are way ahead of most novices. Plus he seemed to know quite a bit about diesel engines.

Kudos for them, I like the boat

Can’t believe 3 million people wasted 30 minutes on this.

You tube is big business... a million subscribers? He s got nice checks coming monthly.

his main subjects are car rebuilding
Probably knows his stuff on that

Pascal -I've heard people can make a living from "followers". Do you know what types of numbers we are talking?
I'm curious.

A friend of mine is looking to do this. I think he told me $10 per month per 10,000 followers. That may be wrong
You can also get sponsors. Lets say you use a certain brand of tool in the video. If you have a lot of subscribers, the brand may sponsor you

I follow a couple of YouTube channels, some of them do a pretty good job with their videos, better than watching TV. Most I watch are sailing, one in particular "Sailing LaVagabonde" - a young Australian couple that live and sail a 45ft Outremer. Between the Youtube revenue, Patreon and some other endorsements I think they are doing ok, maybe better than ok. There is another one, "Boating with Boogaboo" a Canadian couple with a SeaRay 330, they are more normal, actually work and have jobs, but love boating - Lake Simcoe, Trent Severn Waterway, Georgian Bay - I feel like I have been their watching his videos. "MJ Sailing" a Michigan couple, saved quit their jobs spent 2 years restoring an aluminum hull sailboat and have crossed the Atlantic twice and are now in Ireland. And then there is the couple with the 55ft Nordhavn - "Mermaid Monster" - it's pretty obvious their $$ isn't coming from YouTube videos. There are literally dozens if not hundreds of boating channels on Youtube - some are really good, some are just dumb. As with anything, some are just trying to make money, others just enjoy videoing (Vlogging) and have found a way to make a little money doing it. Who would have thought the modern day home movies would become a money maker!

So millenial. 'My girlfriend said the radar is yucky, so I removed it'. And someone inform me please, how is radar outdated? I can see that it may not be as modern as newer ones but shouldn't it put out radar and interpret those signals as weather and boats in your way? He said something about "updated radar signals". smh
If I bought that boat the first thing I'd do is research the engines and service them, then try to get the radar working. Guy is an idiot
