1997 330 SD head door

I looked at the door yesterday and there is a tiny set screw exactly as DD pictured it above. So I think it would probably be possible to dismantle it and get the door open. However, I am going to bend some wire and poke it through the air vent at the bottom of the door and try to hook the door latch on the inside, If that works the wire will be stored under the v berth mattress with the old paper charts.
thanks for the input.

I assume "What could happen?" all the time. In fact, I'm assuming what could happen right now!

What I DON'T do, is drill holes all over my boat...

Bliss, the same thing happened to me. As the slide-lock on the head door began to wear, it began lock itself in heavy seas. (the latch on the 400 is on the aft section of the door, so waves and gravity conspired to move the lock)

We were able to simply pry the door open without damage to the door or frame. The latch is small, so not a lot of play was needed for the door to pop open.

Even so, after 2-3 times of finding the door locked, I took the assembly apart and removed the worn slide-lock altogether. I haven't bothered to replace it.
