2003 Yamaha 225 FS-No Start in water-Starts at Hom

The last few gallons of gas I pumped out was very yellow and cloudy, giving me the indication of water.

SOLVED- I Think.... Started boat at home for 25 minutes no issues. Brought boat to lake, dropped in water, no start. But this time I noticed a slight alarm sounding, What is different from being at home ? Only the engine trim and the fact the lower unit is wet. With the key on we trim the engine and the alarm stopped.- Turned the key and she started. Move the engine left or right engine stalled. Closer inspection showed a slightly deformed harness cable, with the engine running I can stall it by pinching the harness.
Looks like I need a new harness..

Wow. Bugs like this make me shake my head in disbelief.

Glad you poked around with it at the lake and discovered it was electrical.

Looks like you've found it. Glad to help. Only suspected it because I've had it happen to me. If you happen to have excess harness length you may be able to repair it and pull the repaired area inside the cowling. The repair has to be inside, and of course enough cable left to operate with.

Thank you JD!
I ordered a new cable for $85. Seems reasonable to me

Agree. At that price I wouldn't try to fix one.
