I don't know. All the way from Rock Creek to Stoney. Hmmm. I might burn half a gallon!

We'll certainly try and be there. Does Vic come down for these things? I just met him in person a couple of months ago (had a warranty issue with my Electro Scan...drove to Raritan, got treated like royalty).

Hey Mike...I'm in Still Pond. Been here since yesterday (that's Friday mid-day 'til Sunday AM). PLEASE don't tell your new neighbors their WiFi is wide open :-)

What kind of storm hit here 5-6 years ago? I swam up to two other boats today who both said something about some huge blow that came through and put boats 100 yards on the shore. We were in a slight blow about 4-6 weeks ago here that had a good 1-2 foot chop blowing at us, but nothing that could put a boat on shore...here that is.

Actually, it was a tornado that hit the outside part of Still Pond. Even a 53' Hatt was nearly destroyed. We were not there that weekend but heard all the stories.

Our property is back through the cut in Still Pond Creek where the old USCG station is located. We're about a mile and a half down on Jacob's Cove (also known as Jack's Cove).

BTW, I'm glad to hear that there is WiFi back there!!!
 
Anybody on Stoney Creek, how are the Jellies? Stayed at Domingo Creek last night, behind St. Michaels and had hundreds of nettles. Maybe need to move the raft up north.
 
Not sure about Stoney - but Sillery Bay behind Gibson Island was fine today(didn't see or feel any jf). What a great day!!- hot, but a nice breeze & the water was great - some nice cool currents by your feet. All 6 of us got in the water - myself more than the others - 'cus this dummy(me) forgot the lighter for our grill & had to swim to another boat for matches! When I got to his boat this total stranger had the matches in double zip-lok bags for me. There are still nice people out there!!
 
Dom: Things are still clear hear in Fishin Creek behind Thoamas point light. NO jellis yet!

Question on Stoney--I believe that is a draw bridge, but what is the normal clearence there? Used to keep the boat at MYC in Rock , but never was around the corner by boat.
 
I spotted a few on the Rhode River yesterday but only a few. I suspect this was the last good swimming weekend south of the Bay Bridge.
 
So, it's all finally on for real! SYorks "X" on August 18th. We look forward to meeting everyone (again in many cases).

Only took us five months to get organized....

We're at MYC now. Can't beat that location for Bay access....especially access to this raft up!

Wow, a tornado. I'm glad I wasn't there then either.

I know the location you're talking about. Just took a dingy ride up there (we usually anchor near the eagles nest by the mooring balls...and the trawler at the private dock). How deep's the water near your place?

Speaking of deep, how the heck did a 53' boat get back in there? I only read 4-5' at times near the USCG station.

WiFi - you might need a booster. Last year I could just barely pick up that signal. This year I put a 1w booster with outside antenna and I can "see" two networks.
 
As of this Sunday, there hasn't been a nettle seen yet. I'll post more when I return from OBX.

Kurt (Mixman), you might be able to twist my arm to show up. I haven't been to one as of yet but wouldn't mind meeting a lot of you. And at the moment at least, my schedule is open for that weekend. Where is Stoney Creek, relative to any known road (I wasn't able to find it on my road Atlas)? I'd be coming by car, not boat, from the Del. Mem. Bridge.

Sorry it took so long to answer!
The 53' Hat was actually on the Bay side of the cut, not back by the USCG station. The depth back where we are is only 2' MLW at the dock but we get 5' when we get about 1 yards away. The new boat will likely be something like 20-22' with OB's so we'll be fine.
 
Vic: 95 south to Balt.--695east over the Key Bridge and take exit #1 (first one over Key Bridge) Turn left and go to light 'Fort Smallwood Rd.' turn left, and go about 3 mi. First bridge you come to is Stoney Creek. There is a small marina on the right just before you cross the bridge.
 
Vic - It would be great to see you (again), so I hope you can make it. Dusty's directions are right on (we keep our boat very near that location). However, where exactly on the creek will we be? Somebody's got a house there with parking for Vic, right?

Given the long haul, I'll be setting anchor Friday evening, I suspect. I'm trying to talk my friend (Carver 506) to swing by and be the anchor (I'll be the dinghy, then). That would be a treat!

In the interest of full disclosure... Anyone bringing a jet ski is welcome to, but the river is 6mph inside of the bridge on weekends. It's about a 1.5 mile run to 'the playground', which is between the bridge and the turn out to the Patapsco, and out into the Patapsco. If you're into wake/wave jumping, this is for you.

Does anyone need marker numbers or anything to assist in navigating in? Stoney is a bit like Fairlee Creek or Still Pond Creek, but on a much larger (more comfortable) scale. You'll head in towards the condos (with the power plant to your stbd side), and turn to port to enter the creek. It's plenty wide and deep, and the bend gives us nice protection from the wave activity of the shipping channel. Here's a chart shot of the entrance.

I don't eat much, but I've been known to down a beer or two (used to be the Day Manager at the Starting Gate Lounge, in Laurel, MD - many, many years ago, when the "conflict" was still going full-bore in Vietnam; 1968, 69, 70)...
 
Vic: I'm requesting someone that is a definite to PM you with a phone#.Can someone do this please?? Wed had 2 serious showings this past weekend, and the Silverton might be headed for NJ. before the raft up. New ride isn't coming till Oct.
