2008 Boat Trip

Are the Red buoys on port or starboard going west? I know after the locks going towards Greenport or Montauk they are on your left. Heading towards TC the green "5" and red "4" appear to be a channel to go between, but that would be incorrect if it is Red Right Return which I believe it is in that area.

Red to starboard going from the bay to TC- or you can follow someone ;-)

FYI - If you go on the inside, in Tiana Bay there is the new "Abalmuth Cut" that shaves a little time off going North!!!

Dave: Just caught up on this thread and am interested in possibly joining up with you 6/28/thru 7/5. I've never been to any place other than WHB and not even through the locks so I was thinking it might be a good trip and I do make a mean margarita! My wife is skiddish [:-shake] but if she feels we are going with a bunch of boaters that are more experienced than me she might go for it. If I can work it out, would it be okay to join up with you guys? I would be leaving out of Oakdale and run at around 22-24 knots as a cruising speed. I don't want to hold anyone up. Would this work out for you guys?

Thanks for the positive feedback Walter. I will check with my wife tonight to ask her to check with her office to see if anyone has already taken that week off. If not, it would be great to go with you all.

OJ, if you can't make that trip, you are welcome to tag along on my trip beginning 7/12. You can do the West Hampton / Montauk leg if not ready for Newport. Or even just do the WHB leg of the trip. See the docks from the boat side instead of the parking lot side. I remember last year you came to say hello, but I was in town.

July:
- WHB 7/12-13
- Montauk 7/13-16
- Newport 7/16-19
- Greenport or WHB 7/19-20

August:
- AC / NJ - 8/7-10

Yup spoke with Frank a couple of weeks ago. He penciled me in for the two dates. Since he was in the sun shine state, I need to call him back in April to firm up. Others year with Ira and even last year with Frank, my verbal slip request was good enough, but now the town needs to have a written request from the actual boater but it's just a formality.
 
Thanks Brad. I will definitely keep your offer in mind. It will kind of all depend on Linda (my wife's) vacation time availability. She is low person on the totem pole so I'm not sure when she can take it but thanks.

Don, if you are going on the 9th thru 13th maybe we can travel together if not there then on the way back. Keep me posted.

You are all true boating friends and I appreciate your offers greatly. I look forward to a fun summer this year. Since we will be boating out of Oakdale Yacht I have a feeling we will try to make it to Watch Hill a few times.

No problem here. You are more than welcome to join us. We are 3 boats now. Need to decide fast because that week books up. If anyone else wants to join us, let me know. I can email you the details to book.

Will know in 2 days. Will talk to captain tonight, she will talk to her job tomorrow and I will get answer tomorrow night. This will determine go or no go or at least when we can go anywhere!
