$225 a mile, this what sea tow tried to charge me to move my 53 footer 10nm to the yard....
$350 an hour should have been two hours to cover the 10nm plus another hour for a second boat going up the. The Miami river (unlike towboatUS they don't want to tow up river over 50' with a single boat on the hip) so I figure about $1000 plus 45' return to the dock
I ve done the trip many times and at 5kts it's 2 hours... in fact I towed my 26' sailboat the exact same route at 4 kts in 2 1/4 hours two days ago
Needless to say I told them No Thanks
As to why I have to pay, its classic failure to read the fine print... when I got the sea tow Professional Mariner membership 9 years ago, I was told verbally it covered dock to dock on the primary vessel listed on the card. Well it doesn't.... i should have re read the fine print every renewal. My fault. But $225 a mile ... no way!
