Uh, to answer the OP question, this is the first year for the AC75 class.
 
Indeed first cup with the new AC75. Pretty amazing how they hit 50kts on monohulls...
 
And it starts tonight (US time)... I don’t know if NBC Sports will broadcast the races live, they didn’t during the Prada Cup. Best alternative to watch live is on YouTube but you need a VPN as it is blacked out in the US.
 
They've taken the art of sailing out of that sport completely......
 
they are trying to reach a wider audience by making it more "thrilling". When they debuted the foiled catamarans in SF, there were huge crowds. It is more exciting to watch, but the art of sailing is probably lost

Yep. Disgusting. That s why I started subscribing to VPN express. I set it to New Zealand and can watch it live on you tube

it is only the oldest international trophy in sports... going back 175 years. Athletes who are what real athlete should be. Smart, educated, guys who can put a real sentence together, don’t beat their girlfriends, don’t get caught drunk driving,... unlike the National Felon League or the others similar groups
 
IMHO, they are doing to America's cup what they did to Formula 1. I used to enjoy both.

No longer.
 
the good news is that they are replaying it 1.5 hours later and for some reason I can watch or record that.
 
well I just watched the first 2 races after recording them. I quite liked the racing. Very high tech
 
I watched some of the Prada Cup a few weeks back. Unreal how fast those boats go. Of course, there is almost nothing actually in the water.
