America's Cup - San Francisco 2013 - Pictures

I think the fenders on Just Enough are more then enough! I didn't know they made them things that big. But I've never seen a yacht that size needing fenders either.......

And I love the pic of the little fishing boat with 3 outboards docked between the large yachts! That little boat is probably a 30 footer LOL

Thanks for the pics guys

I'm not sure what you mean? I've never seen/been on a boat that size or even larger without having, and needing, fenders.

My experience is much more limited then yours!

I remember your posting about the yacht going through the Panama Canal and on to Costa Rica. Was that Just Enough?

Here is the tender.

And here is former mayor Willie Brown. I think I could have went with him on the boat if I had worn my white jeans...

No, that was one of the owners of JE other boat. A mere 90 footer named Solstice 1. I brought that boat through the canal twice. Once going to Costa Rica from Ft. Lauderdale and then when we brought it back to Ft. Lauderdale.

Thanks for the pics Kris. The crew can't figure out how I know what I know. :-)

Kris,
Please post more pictures of the Delta. I love to see them since I am planning to spend time over there this summer.

What a shame. Such a prestigious race and the first time in SF and they are screwing around! Guess we don't deserve to keep the Cup and it should go back to Newport RI.

Even the single boat "races" are pretty amazing. The NZ boat topped 43kts today in sub 20knt winds. Artemis is getting closer to sailing. I saw the boat today as I had a meeting in the building next to their facility. I believe they expect to be on the water within a week. There is no way Prada doesn't compete, with the amount of money they have already spent that would make no sense. It really is too bad they (organizing group) are not a little further ahead of the game but I expect there will be great racing through September. I also expect most of the boats will be out practicing most days that they are not racing. If you have the chance to see them it is definitely worthwhile.

The America's Cup App is great. They show all the live racing and have replays for previous races. Their is also a YouTube channel "Americascup" which shows the live racing plus replays and other cool stuff. The quality of the video is also pretty good.

Italy was racing today and there will be the first "real" race on Saturday.

The Artemis boat is expecting to be practicing on the bay within the next 10 days.

It almost looked like a race today as NZ was out practicing during the Italy "race”.

It will be nice to see both out there against each other to really see the difference in the boats. The wind was lighter today so it is hard to compare the NZ speed / times to what Italy did today.

did not get out of our slip for the race on Saturday, but did see the boats cross the finish line

Nice pictures Jerry!

The NZ boat hit 51mph in less than 20mph of wind today!

They just keep going faster! Never would have dreamed I would be this interested in sail boat racing...

Great day for the AC today.

Artemis is now in the water. They did the Christening this morning followed by final testing of systems in order to start sailing. They plan to start practice yet his week on the bay and to participate in the LV Cup semi-finals in early August.

Couple more days until the real racing starts. Artemis is doing foiling jibes after just 7 days on the water. I am really hoping for at least some really close racing. Sorry no pictures, I will be back to the bay on the 12th.

Supposed to be a real race tomorrow between Artemis and Luna Rossa. I'm planning on going out to watch.
This series is a best of 7 and they have moved the starting time to 1:15. Could be higher winds, but hope it doesn't go above the limit.

What I find strange is that during the finals, they will do 2 races per day, but each race will be shorter. Seems like that just makes the start so much more important.

What channel will you guys be on? I'm planning on going out with Liz on Tues the 13th.

Where are good places to view? Can you watch while traveling in the transit areas along the shoreline?
