I am currently searching for a slip at the AYC. I know a few of you have mentioned you would keep an eye out for me for anyone renting and I thank you. I have a 30ft boat with a 10ft beam.I have been searching the internet for any posting with negative results. Email is Alka2710rb2@gr5toptonline.net. Thanks in advance.

Did you call the office Al? 631-226-2760

Not sure what your budget is, but if you bump up to a slip that has a 13' beam, you should have a number of them to choose from. Also, slips 13' or wider are usually in better spots in the marina than the smaller ones.

Good Luck

Walter

Thanks Walter going to call them this week. Also e mail is alka2710atoptonline.net.

I was out there yesterday and last week looking at slips. They had quite a few which should be wide enough for you. By the way, any barbed wire that had been put on top of the fence behind G dock is long gone. It's a simple climb for anyone in the schoolyard to be in the marina. Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but it does gives me some second thoughts about a slip and winter storage on that dock. Hy

I agree, avoid G dock if you can.
We want to get cameras installed but it seems the budget may be tight this year.
While doing the new dock over by B/C docks, they found the remnants of a old gas station that was there 30 years ago.
Now we have a cleanup issue, so it looks like other capital projects will be delayed.
The best boats for G dock are open boats with no electronics so there is no temptation.

Consider what Walter said and look for a wider slip, the extra room is nice to have and it won't cost that much more.

I have the rental listing in front of me and need some advice on which dock I should pick. I was thinking F dock because it is near the play ground for my little one. Could use some advice hear. The rental fee does not seem to be an issue prices only vary a few hundred hear and there my choices are as follows
A dock 3 spots 13 and 14 foot
B dock 1 spot 13 foot
D dock 1 spot 12'6"
F dock 5 spots 12ft 2 spots 13 foot
Any recommendations.
I have a 10 ft beam and 3 daughters 13 12 and 3 and a wife not much help docking so easiest slip to dock. Thanks

All the docks mentioned are good IMHO, need to know the slip numbers to comment in detail.
A dock, towards the end(higher numbers) gets lots of seaweed (smells) certain times of the year, not a major deal breaker but something to consider. Also, A dock (most of it) has a lot of car traffic.
B Dock
Closer to the bathrooms and pool, but again need the dock number to comment more, A dock and B dock share the same basin, so seaweed could be a problem.
D Dock
Best dock in the Marina IMHO, great view of the great south bay, has there own bathrooms and showers.
F Dock
Not bad, F dock boarders the high and dry rack.

If you post the dock #s for each dock I could tell you more.

Walter

http://anchorageyc.com/sliplocator.htm Thats a good view of marina to give you a good idea.
I have another map with slip #'s but its not online, email me for a copy.

Heres what I am looking at Walter Dave I looked at the slip locator on there web site thanks
Al
B 43 13 ft
D 64 12'6"
F 29 12 ft
f 30 12 ft
F 34 12 ft
F 43 12 ft
F 45 12 ft
F 50 13 ft

IMHO.......I'd pick "D" dock .....or "S" dock ( if there was one available )......they look to be the best in the whole joint.

B43 has a lot of car traffic, but its ok.

D64 is last slip on D dock.
If you want to be on D dock then its good.
But its the last slip, so it will collect the garbage that floats in.
Also you have to turn your boat and swing in from west, may have to lay against bulkhead to get in.
May not be bad for a small express, would not want that slip with my boat!
You will need lots of fenders in that slip!

Any of those F’s aren’t bad.
They are all middle of F dock, it’s the other entrance, but its fine for your boat.

I like F43, F45 or F50. Short walk to pool, near bathrooms on D dock, and close enough to D dock where you can walk over for a nice view of the bay.
My second choice would be D64 but again, not with my boat. If I had your boat, I would consider it, but it really has its pluses and minuses.

FYI - I am D60, so you would be 4 over from me, thats another negative becuase I drink, piss on the dock, puke, have sex with Gizmo on the back of my boat, smash boats when I pull in, and play very loud Barry Manilow music!

Just my .02. Really need to look at the slips and decide.

Dave......you have sex with Gizmo on the back of your boat ......................too ??

LOL

All right thanks everyone for the info I am going to call them and look at the Fs and see what they have. D 64 would have been it except for it being the last slip on the end. Will let everyone know which slip i end up with. First burgers and dogs are on me. Thanks for the help.
Al

Al,
Don't let me turn you off of D64, although i like men, little boys are better and dogs OMG if you like it. Again, for your boat it may not be bad.
I am giving you my honest viewpoint. You have to weigh it all together.
Some people love being on the end slip.
You can wash boat sides of your boat.
You can get off on either side.
You can bow in and still get off boat.
You don't have to worry about anyone hitting you.
Your on D dock and have a view of the bay, short walk to bathrooms.

But then there are the negatives.
Garbage in slip when tide floats in that way.
Only one way in slip if back in, that is from NW, unless you lay against dock.

Look at all the slips and decide. I think its a great slip if you can deal with the negatives.

He comes to Copaigue too? I thought he was working his way down the Anchorage. Must of finished that task!

I only know the gas dock being at the end of C dock ( behind the office )

Where did they find underground tanks ?

Rob

Lets hope we didn't inherit a cleanup mess.
Could cost us a boatload if it does.

Yup,
The present board and their collected wisdom decided to make this "official" and report this. Rather than just play dumb and remove it.
You know what I mean, "gees I thought it was an old septic tank" or "gees, I thought it was a water tank". DMF!!!
