Dave (Current Sea), was there this morning. Dave will fill you in on more but here is what he told me.

The main building went on fire and is still burning
All boats on land on D dock are gone
Many boats are damaged and also missing
In other words, the place is a disaster !!!!
Tide is coming in now so no access, I will be down there around 3 rot day and will check on anyone's boat if they want me too.
Cell service sucks so post here where your boat is and I will make a list then post what's up when I get back.

Walter, yes, the commercial bldg is burned to the ground.. Boats that were on D land are either on land by the pool or sinking in the canal. Most boats including mine, that were on A land or S land have been swept off their blocks and bunched up tightly. I saw that Dave's boat was on S land, I couldn't find it at all.
The place is truly devasted. Pix to follow....

Please - if you do drive down there drive extremely SLOWLY.. Just because the water isn't going in your doors doesn't mean it's not being pushed into some guys house. There were many house fires raging uncontrolled last night and today, there is a huge SCPD and national guard command post on Wellwood ave.

According to the guards you can walk in but no cars. If you do walk bring boots.
Most boats in water are ok, several sunk on a dock and C dock.

I hope you all and your families are safe.
 
So I guess I have no hope of my boat being where it was if it was blocked against F dock.

I walked thru anchorage and used my kayak to get to SS3. Devasation, is all I can say! Seems like boats in water faired better than boats on land. Dave, saw your boat, nothing more to say. The whole scene is surreal! A nightmare. Best of luck to all of us!

Dave I am so sorry for you.

For all of you, I promise it will get better. We weathered the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons down in Florida and know what you guys are going through and feel your pain.

All of these people, they spent alot of time on their boats. They made so many good memories. I don't care what kind of boat you have, this cuts to the bone. Hang on to those memories and move on. Dave, you put your heart into that boat. Put up with a ton of sh1t and still made it happen.
Our hearts go out to you and all of those that were hurt by this. Hopefully everyone can pull together and get it all back together again so they can continue to enjoy the pass-time.
 
Sorry to see the carnage at AYC. I hope everyone made it through safely.
 
This is terrible. Dave I met you once at Watch Hill. I'm very sorry to see these pictures..
 
Unbelievable devastation, we have seen things like this on TV from elsewhere in the past, but when it hits home it hits hard.

Dave sorry for you loss – as well to all others.

I don’t have a clue as to how our boat made out in Greenport as we cant get down the block and the getting to the yard at this point is not happening. No answer via phone at this point. If anyone’s out in Greenport let me know how things are
 
Unbelievable. And to think, my wife won't have us move further south because she's afraid of hurricanes.
My condolences to Dave and all who suffered great losses in the storm.
 
I know I speak for all here at AYC in Ohio...so sorry to see this...unbelievable!!

Stunning. A slow tsunami. Condolences. Crying is OK, encouraged even.
 
After swimming to the boat both during and after, I came upon it sitting fat dumb and happy. I couldn't believe the carnage. If anyone needs a hand for anything at all I'm available at any time.........
