Looks like Atlantique this weekend.

The weather looks to be sunny but a bit chilly and we are just not ready to get into layup mode. So Atlantique seems to be on the list of end of the season destinations along with Kismet the last weekend this month.

A couple of friends said they may go this weekend. If anyone wants to do a mid to late afternoon BBQ come on by.

Is the Inn or Out still open?

I know the Inn is still open, but I would call just in case, I believe they are having their Halloween party next weekend so we are planning to go if the weather holds up. This weekend is Atlantique.

The In is open weekends through October for certain. In years past, it has been open through the weekend prior to Veterans Day, which would make the last day this year, November 7. That day is always fun as the food menu list shrinks during the day to where only french fries are left. One year, they ran out of beer and had to tap into the Fire House's emergency supply of Pabst Blue Ribbon!! As my boat is on the hard by then, I walk from Field 5 and enjoy the fun and football games.

Thanks Gerry, I was going to call but got caught up with meetings this morning at work.

We are planning to do Atlantique this weekend and then Kismet next 10/30-31 weather permitting, rain / wind day Nov 6-7th.

Unless we have a real Indian summer prior to Thanksgiving week, it will be a wrap for trips. I plan to keep her in the water as I did at the LIYC, but it will be a lot different since I have to move from my summer slip to a better protected location within the marina that has no views. I can always walk to the end of the dock, look at the bay, freeze my A$$ and run back for a shot of JD... Oh well, still floating with electric heaters, lots of sprits and beer. :D

haul out??? WTF???

Living on the water I leave the boat in all year. A nice New Years day cruise around the bay with abottle of champagne & some leftovers from the night before.......priceless!!

What dock can we meet you ;-)

We stay in also, but on layup with the engines.
Nice to get away from the house and hang on the boat a couple hours if sunny. I have two sets of covers and glass Summer / Winter, so I don't shrink wrap.

PARTY AT THE ANCHORAGE !!!!!????

walter,

Oh you are not common!! You know I am crying in my beer for you.
If you wanted to would the Anchorage let you leave the boat in the water?

Radiowaves,

Winter cruises usually do not involve any destination,,just a cruise around the bay. I suppose a place like Molly Malones in bayshore, the Riverview in Oakdale or the Oar in Patchogue might be a destination.

Do you winterize the boat or Do Charlie's guys do that? The advantage if having the boat behind my house is that I do not winterize the engines,,,only the freshwater system & the head. I place a heater in the engine compartment & a 100watt light bulb in a metal drop light in the cabin. My creek rarely freezes but I do have an ice eater I can drop in if need be.

Charlie's guy Kenny or Grandson Andrew will do Engines, AC, Generator. But I do the freshwater, heads, sump etc. They used to come to the LIYC to do it, but now I am there so I can stretch out the season to the last non freeze day.

Funny Andy,
Yes I can keep my boat in the water at the Anchorage. All I would save by doing that is the haul ($564.00), since I would need a short haul to paint and zinc the boat the only savings would be around $200.00. Actually it would cost me more than hauling because I would have to use the yard for zincs as well as painting the bottom. So my net cost would be 600.00 or so more to keep the boat in the water.

The cost is not the problem, the advantage rich people have that live on the water is their boat is in their backyard and they see it every day. Us poor folks don't have that luxury :)

Seriously,
If I had my boat in my backyard I would do what you do and enjoy the boat more often.

If you don't get it, I am just jealous of what you have :)

Walter, if you had it in the water you would have an extra place to go on the weekends...

That blinking light place off of Sunrise may be closing.. ;)

Living on the water and having the boat in your back yard is great. I have over 120' of dock space, and every inch of that footage is used with boats. I have all my boats, and a friends. Its like my own mini marine. Its great, you come home from a long day at work, look out the back windows and the boats are 50 foot away from me..Its great
