We're thinking of planning a trip to Atlantic City.

Has anyone here done this before and is the Farly State Marina the place to go?

I'm thinking that because it is a long ocean run, I should not book anything until I'm pretty close to the dates to watch the weather.

Thanks

We are planning to go to Atlantic city ourselves. If anyone has done it before, how many days does it take to get there? Tips where to dock and safe routes to get there will be much appreciated.

It is a one day trip to get there. Basically 5 hours at 19-20 knots from FI Inlet or from the VZ Bridge in my case.

My friend will be going from Bayshore in a 41 Viking so I'm weighing all of my options. I may go direct and meet up with him somewhere along the way or come around to the SS and hang for a few days somewhere.

I posted on the New Jersey forum as well.

MArk,
I emailed my friend John. He did the a/c trip last year... we should hear from him

Mark,
Let me know if you put something together, I always wanted to do that trip.

Hey Mark Rob is correct I've made the trip a few years now. Last year was the first with my own boat. Took about 4 hours from the FI inlet. You want to run about 1/4 off shore. Just pick your day. We stay at Trump $4.00 a foot.. We then run up to Wild wood and Cape May.. This year same trip but going to Delaware.

Depending on when this is, I may be in, though the thought of the last trip through ambrose still sends shivers up my spine!

OK. I'll post when I figure out some possible dates.

The atlanticstarcharters is Kammerman's Marina in AC just across from Farley State/Trump Marina. Kammerman's phone is (609)348-8418. Not quite as nice as Trump but they'll give you a family run marina and can supply you with normal marina services. Do them a favor, call and make a reservation. They don't have a large place and it does fill up.

http://www.trumpmarina.com/index.cfm .......can I post this without getting spanked ?

Sounds good! Is it too late to suggest we get something going for the upcoming memorial weekend? Who wants in?

We do this trip from at least once a year out of Debbs inlet, many stories to tell ranging from great to miserable(crusising related) but they were all worth it(for the stories). With calm seas we have made the run in just under 4 hours, but the worst was 9. Take them as they come, bail out point is Manesquan inlet, from there you can run the intercoastal down to Trump just adds about 1.5 hours tot he trip. From FI inlet you can run better (straight line) but you will be out there in the wide open, with your 41' not a problem but I would not take that route in anything less than a 35+. Crossing the shipping lanes is like playing frogger if you hit them in the moring during the week.

My route is simple, ER bouy across through Abrose to the FG then south to manesquan, barnegate, little egg then Absecon. Absecon is very clean inlet to navigate - Barnegate and Little Egg is not advisable unless conditions are prime and Manesquan can be tricky but is well marked.

I would not reccomend Kammerans for over night stays, good for gas before you head back though -Boat US discount. Trump, although pricey, is unmatched for the area. Clean, great location and full use of the hotel facilities makes it a very enjoyable stay for us. Your slip number is the equvilant to you your room number- room service and business services right to your transom door. Oh, don't forget the weekly Miss Deckadence(spel?) contest and nightly live entertainment on the deck.

We have always made the trip solo in the past but would welcome company for the trip, so count me in for a Boater Ed trip.

Mark
So if you leave from Glen Cove you would add a hr or 2. do you make it the 6-7 hrs in one run or break it up?

You gentleman that are going to AC will make the ICW run or on the outside?

I will be running outside, unless it is horrible. I have a tight schedule I need to keep.

Andy,

I'm thinking I will run straight down in a 6-7 hour run if conditions are right. Right now, I'm thinking 3 nights there.

Originally, I was considering going around to the south side first and leaving from there but my wife suggested that we make that a separate trip. Who am I to argue. :)

My plan would be to run outside so I was originally thinking I would not make reservations really far in advance unless the cancellation policy is tolerable.

Mintregila, I'm not sure but am I "Andy". If yes, no problem I'll just change by birth certificate. A/K/A Art/Arthur/ Andy?

Andy is abalmuth who asked if I was thinking of going directly from Glen Cove.

Sorry Art, the run outside was an answer to your post.
