Just got my permit today and I am #026. Can't seem to get the # 001 but was #009 last year.

The rates went up again, but still cheaper than WH or Sailors, at least for Islip residents. Non-Res can dock from Sunday 6:00PM-Friday 11:00AM during the season at the discretion of the Dock Master. Off Season they rarely bother you. They do have rates posted for Non-Res on Weekends and don't mention off season, so I guess it depends if they are full.

But someone please interpret this: You may dock at Atlantique Marina for up to 12 consecutive days. If you stay 7 through 12 days, you must depart for at least 72 hours which include a full weekend.

How is that allowing you to stay 12 Consecutive days ?

P.S. You must pay daily Monday-Thursday. Only weekends are in advance. They had this rule last year, but boats never left around the July 4th week, before or after. A lot of people have a lot of days off ;-)

I now need my knee to get back in shape after the surgery so I can go !! But with PT, it is doing much better. Should be good to go within 3 weeks or sooner. After 9 days now I stopped using the cane. And am mostly without any pain.

The changed that a few years ago Brad. You can stay for 12 days with no problem. If you do stay for more than 7 days (up to 12) you have to leave for 3 days.

Before they changed the rule you could stay for 17 days and only had to be out for 1 night. You had guys that never left. never rented a spot for the season on the main land. they would get there in may and only pay for the weekends thru june. After school let out the 17 day rule kicked in. So somewhere in mid july they would pick a rainy weekday and pull out. Then they would just anchor over nite right next to the marina. In the morning they would pull in and start the whole process over.

meanwhile your busting your ass to get out of work early on a friday to try and get a spot for the weekend. The new rules are a bit better.

So what happens after the 12th day? How long do you have to leave before you can start another 12? The wording seems a little odd. As Brad says it's not 12 consecutive days if you have to leave for 3...

I had heard in the past that people pretty much left their boats there all season so I understand the need for limits.

Are they charging yet?
Maybe I will go this weekend if nice out!

after 12 days they tell you to leave. if you dont leave islip bay constable tows you out. saw it happen a few years ago. resulted in arrest of 2 people, boat impounded, and they were banned for duration. I never saw them again so i dont knbow if it was shame or the law that kept them from coming back.

they probably wont be charging til mid may but bring water. electric is on.

Sounds to me that if you stay more than 7 consecutive days up to the max of 12 you then need to leave for at least 72hrs before you can return but if you stay less than 7 day in a row you can leave for some unspecified time (I assume one night min) and then return to start the clock over again.

Seems fair.

In re-reading and thinking it though, that seems to be what they were stating when I got my permit. You can stay a full 12 days, but if you stay past 7-12 you must vacate for 72 hours and it must include a weekend.

Sounds almost like they limit use to one consecutive weekend. Get there on a Monday and must leave the 2nd Friday; 12 days (one weekend). Get there on a Friday and must leave the next Friday; 7 days (one weekend).

Now I get it but I think they could have worded it a little better, something like -

"You may dock at Atlantique Marina for up to 12 consecutive days. If you stay 7 days or more, you must depart for at least 72 hours, including a full weekend, before returning again."

Ok Dave rub it in... I am lucky if I can get on the boat with this knee let alone hop around the bow doing lines. 4 weeks or sooner of PT and I should be ok.

They just don't have the crew to begin charging this early. I have never paid until MD weekend, then even the first 2 weeks in June they did not come by. But I can't be sure if any of this changed for this year.

It should be a nice weekend, if you go, you will have the place mostly to yourself.. Enjoy !!

You just drive, Admiral does the lines! That is why we bring them along, right?
