Had to re-visit this post and say "thank you " to CaptCrunch for recommending JMC auto transport.

I had originally hired Vantage Auto transporters out of Boca Raton Fla. back in Nov 2014. We spoke numberous times on the phone and they emailed me a contract to sign electronically....and took a C/C deposit over the phone. The pickup date on the contract was Jan 2 2015 in Patchogue NY. On Jan 2 at 10am I contacted them to confirm a time of pick up and was told then that the drivers truck broke down and he cancelled all pick ups that day. Vantage was going to TRY and find me another driver to pick up the vehicle. I called back at 5pm.....they had NO DRIVER to do a pick up and it my be a few days before they could do the pickup. I had to have the car off my MIL's rented property by Saturday midnight.

The next day I contacted JMC auto transporters and they where OUTSTANDING. He picked up the car with a smaller truck....in about 2 hours after we spoke.....no deposit required ( just pay cash at delivery ).....stored the car for a few days until they filled the larger carrier for the run to Florida. He also kept in contact with me the entire time.

The car was delivered TODAY as promised. It was a few hundred dollars more then the other company but FAR more professional and worth every dollar.

Now I will try to dispute the C/C charge for the other scam artist........but I'm not
hopeful.

Again THANKS CAPT........

The truck breaking down was BS, the price quoted was a "rack and stack" appointment, hence the less cost. IE, the airlines that overbook :)

The CC company should not have an issue with returning a deposit for services not rendered!

Yes.....I've learned the hard way there are " BROKERS "...and " OWNER OPERATORS " Brokers take a deposit and use an internet site to post a job and hope it gets picked up by a driver......its a crap shoot. Owner operators are both the agent and driver...a one stop shop. Jim from JMC told me he would be wealthy if he had a dollar for every time he heard about brokers screwing people over. He also said NEVER give a deposit to ANY carrier...its all done with a " bill of lading "

Don, I'm glad it worked out, and thanks for the update. It's amazing how much I get out of this website.

Just a tidbit more......Chase bank has credited my C/C the full amount of the deposit transaction....pending an investigation. It should be indisputable when the company can't produce papers for shipping the vehicle to Florida as per the contract ( I hope )

Regardless .....we are happy to have her mom living in our other house and very close by. Its a huge relief.

Now back to retirement...... :)
