We own 1988 Carver 32 Convertible (3227). There is a bilge pump below the floor of mid cabin (just past or about a midships) and another in aft of boat centered about 8-10 inches from transom. I usually have standing water, inch or so from forward engine compartment bulkhead back as far as the garboard drain stopping short of reaching the aft bilge pump. I thought about moving the aft pump forward, but when she gets on plane then the water would run back and not be pumped out. Can I add another bilge pump to the low area and tap into the aft discharge line? Also I'm not so sure that I may have two low spots. One ahead of battery compartment and the other at the garboard drain. Suggestions please.

when the angle of the boat changes getting on plane then if you want to keep the boat as dry as possible, two pumps is the best solution... you can never have enough pumps anyway... two is not enough on a 32 footer.

the last inch is always hard to remove since the pump intake is 1/2 to 3/4" tall and then you have the water in the hose flowing back anyway.

tapping into the existing discharge isn't ideal.it can be done but it must be connected with a Y, near the thruhull and making sure both line at at least a 12" rising loop to make sure water from one pump can't back up the other line.

if the thru hull is plastic, make sure both loops are well supported and do not stress the plastic fitting.

If you're going to the trouble and expense of putting in another bilge pump, spend the extra bucks and give it its own discharge line and thru hull.
If you ever have a real emergency, having 2 pumps trying to pump thru the same discharge line is not a good idea.
