W re in Bimini for the week end... And yes the big ugly red boat is there anchored out with its red catamaran launches going back n forth, but no wake issues yet.

N the plus side there are now 5 pairs of buoys marking the newly dredged channel, 10' MLW was the shallowest I saw

Browns marina is pretty nice, every thing else was booked so we tried it for the first time. Nice docks, good power... The bar (Big Johns ) is nice too...

The seem to be some activity going on with a coupl roof new restaurants and shops that were open. Hopefully it will stay this way

Customs is still the same price, $300 for bigger boats, plus extra if you have more than a number of pax on board, altogether for 8 of us it was $400. They are now located at the big game marina, immigration is still in the old office by the gov dock.

This is the busiest I ve seen Bimini, but I usually don't come here on big week ends.

One more thing... I had kept my Bahamas sim alive by adding $10 online every couple of months so 10 mile sour I got service, dialed *205# to activate data plan and was quickly in business !

Pascal so was Brown's redone or something?

Cor, we are On charter with Charmer

Dan, yes Brown was redone, pretty nice. Of course after I said "good power" I had to switch to Genset for a while because we kept tripping one of the dock breakers...

I have never seen Bimini so active, but it s the first time we re here on Labor Day week end... There was constant line of boats coming in last evening, even are dark. Anything from 25 footers to 100 .

All they have to do is clean the place (North and South Bimini) up a bit and throw in some more improvements and it'll fly again.

Yeah but it s the Bahamas mon. I ve always been amazed at how the first thing you see arriving in Bimini are some abandoned homes on the beach and at the entrance.

The word around here was everybody and his brother was heading to Bimini for this long weekend. Good luck. :-)

I actually like the fact that things change very, very slowly in the Bahamas myself. It's a bit like stepping back in time. And in keeping with the old Bahamian saying "Soon come, soon come".

If they just knocked down all the abandoned buildings and graded the property it would be an improvement. From what I've heard there are very poor deed records which leads to family disputes and a stagnation of any change.

And their cousins too :)

I really like browns... With the long fingers we can bow in for better view and privacy

Anything ever happen at the South Bimini Beach Club?

Never been there, it seems isolated and from what I see on AC draft and length is limited.

Bimini Sands on south Bimini is pretty popular but again there is a hump coming in, about 6' I think, and the whole basin is bit too enclosed, no view, no breeze.

We spent the last day and night at honeymoon, anchored on the east side of Gun has honeymoon was jammed packed with boats... Looked like the Nixon sandbar! I was the first time we went to Bimini on a big summer week end and I was surprised to see how crowded it was compared to Christmas or Easter. For the first time ever, We had to wait for immigration at the port of Miami

It was the smoothest crossing I ve ever experienced, both ways.

I'll bet that if you looked at the weather map for that trip, they printed a large "H" right over the track! :) That is glassy calm. Wow. That is great weather for moving about ( stinks if you are fishing, however... Dead calm usually equals slow fishing activity )

Back on the day after Thanksgiving in 2008 it started out rough.

But it laid down as the day went on;

And that ride spoiled us rotten WRT Gulf Stream crossings.
