We are replacing the sofa-bed and chair in our salon and are looking for suggestions on where to buy. I see that Flex Steel makes boat and RV furniture but can't find anywhere close to go see it. We assuming that we probably will have to order online.

Thanks
Niles

Try Jennifer Convertibles. We have a leather sofa bed from them (its in the boat). Prices are great and the arms lift off with no hardware, makes it real nice to move around. You can take it apart (3 pcs) in 60 seconds. Cost was around $800 bucks, matress included.

Does Jennifer make the smaller stuff? My max width is 67" and 84 or so unfolded? Being able to take it apart is must for this boat to get it in.

Thanks for the reply

try Brad&Hall acron,OH they do marine rv furniture brad and hall .com

I got a list of flexsteel dealers; the closest is Columbus (3hr away). We are willing to choose a style online but we want to touchfeelsee the fabrics. With our 67-68 wide requirements there aren’t that many styles to pick from. So far I haven’t found anybody in a 500 mile radius that stocks them bur we may be able to get fabric samples.
Mike…I can’t find where Bradd & Hall have a store in Akron. I find the one in Elkhart In

Thanks for the responses.

Can you just reupholster your existing furniture with your fabric of choice?

We thought about that but the stuff was 21 years old and the mattress on the sofasleeper would have only been comfortable to a dog! It’s not an option now anyway as the sofa went into the club dumpster and the chair went to Goodwill.

Brad and Hall here too. Sofa bed + a swivel recliner. Go to Carver forum, under Pictures of your Carvers, and go to my NOV 07 post. We chose the blue leather version. We LOVE it.

Dock'ed...Nice boat. Our boats look so much alike!

Did you do everything online with Bradd & Hall? I know the sofa comes apart but did you have any trouble getting the chair in. I like the reclining swivel chair but I can't get anything much bigger in.

Thanks

You might consider RV furniture which is scaled to a smaller area.

Thx on the compliment. Yes, the base comes off the chair. You put 'er in recline mode without the base, remove the stainless hand rail on the steps, and carry on in (2 people), then reassemble. Same with the sofa. I had some business in Indiana at the time so I visited the company to purchase and had them shipped to my home. I am sure you could do it online. Regarding the sofa, I remember they made various lengths. I chose a length that maximized using the area next to the storage island when pushed up against the opposite wall. Can't remember what length that was, but the point is you have options to fit your liking. I believe the material was called ultraleather - holds up well to wet bathing suits, easy to wipe down, many color selections available. For a few extra bucks get the pull out storage drawer beneath the sofa (convenient for bedding and pillows).
Good Luck.

I was shopping recently on overstocked dot com... most of their furniture is knock down with many choices in chairs, loveseats and sofas and the like.

Just remember the ACCESS size will dictate what you need. I had a TIGHT access point to maneuver through the door so I needed the magical properties of dissassembly. Make sure the furniture you get will fit through the door (window, etc) before you buy it. Good luck!!!!

Thanks Don.
I need a 67" wide sofa to fit where it will go inside but the marinerv sofa's all come apart and won't be much of an issue. We don’t want a sleeper because we don't need it and it will be easier on me when I have to move it to get to the engines. The chair is the issue. I have 22" on the top and 21" in the front of our opening. What do you mean by the base comes off? I have had one flexsteel dealer tell me the chairs don't come apart. I am pi$$ed at myself because we measured our old barrel style chair and now I can’t find where we wrote it down. I have been working with an outfit in Pompano Beach Fl because they sellmake a nice non sleeper couch and will do the 67". They said they could build a model of our opening to test getting the chair in. Here is a shot of our opening…

Your opening looks similar to mine (be careful of the sharp corners - if it's tight, pad them). My chair is a swivel reclining rocker. The swivel base can be detached and reassembled when inside. I had to recline (full extension) the chair and turn it sideways to move through the opening. I think I see screws on the hinge of your access door in the photo. If you had to, that would give you even a little more room to manipulate the chair through.

Regarding the sleeper sofa - it folds out like a Fouton, so the weight is negligible compared to true sleeper sofas... easy to move.

We found ourselves needing a new sofabed (fast), this summer, for our '95-34' Silverton Convertible. We had quite a time finding a double sleeper that wasn't larger than 68" but found a manufacturer called OVERNIGHT SOFA. We went online and found dealers in our area and were able to find one in stock, in a color that worked and for $700 delivered. When they asked me on what floor the delivery was, I just told them it was "sealevel."

New funiture is in along with a engineered hardwood floor from the back of the salon foward. The admiral is working on the new curtains (laying on the chair). The chair is a flexsteel piece and the sofa was a custom from a company in Pompano Beach Fl. The admiral is happy!!
