I've been lucky so far. Even been out in the dark a few times with no problems. But I try to take it slow and keep an eye out.
I have noticed people with wood scraps and debris on their property, and have pulled a couple of pieces out of the canal here and there. I wish there was a way that the Towns. could stay on top of people that leave loose wood laying around on low lying property.
Any wood I have around is either in the shed or if too big to fit in there is held down with the cinder blocks I use for blocking up the boat in the winter. It works well.
The guy that owns the property in front of me finally put his wood picket fence back up pretty securely, but he also raised things up with 4x4 posts and some 2x12's. He did a nice job, and it looks a lot better. But they left scraps around after they were done. I got rid if what was left before it wound up in the canal.
His tenant is a real good guy, but the guy who owns it now has his son or son in law take care of it and the guy either doesn't have a clue, or doesn't give a crap.
