Yeah, typical article in which the media "sells the sizzle and not the steak"...
They'd rather grab readers with a headline (of death) than fill the article with the facts surrounding the incident.
Even a follow up article would be nice, but alas, there hasn't been one (that I have seen/heard of)...
It's hard to imagine that two boats can collide on a clear day in the Bay without some gross negligence being attached to one of the skipper's.
If I was a bettin' man, I'd go with your idea of an un-manned pilot seat while the auto-pilot was on. And inside the Bay, that is a big no-no!
There is just too much boat traffic...
