Cedar Point Marina

When you make reservations for transient dockage at Cedar Point request to NOT be on pier 23...The sea gulls own this dock. We were there two weekends ago and the these dosks were deplorable. The sea gull dropping and fish guts was so thick that getting off the boat was a tip toe challenge. The power and water connections were covered in white wash (crap). It is very apparent that Cedar Point Marina does not care or maintain the transient facitities. I have a few pictures of the docks that I could pass on to Cedar Fair that they could use in their marketing of the paradise for boaters who long for first-class amenities, not for transients. At $1.75 a foot they could at least clean off the docks and make them presentable and useable.

Hi wshiley,

Since we dock at Cedar Point, I'm going to see if we can pass your comments along to someone who might be able to do something about it. I'm not sure exactly who that will be, but we will try anyway.

We've been down there and have to agree with your assessment of the transient dockage. We won't even let the dogs on those docks because of all the mess. I can imagine how you and all the visitors must feel.

It really is a great marina and we're typically proud to tell people that, but unfortunately when people come to visit it is hard to overlook this sort of mess.

Regards,

We showed up on a monday with friends that go every year. We asked for dock 11 (50') for the regular trans rate and the newbie behind the counter said "you will have to ask the dock master when he gets back". We waited 10 minutes for him to show up and he gave us the 50' dock for the regular price because they were "slow".
One item to note we came in on a monday and left on friday morning which I am sure helped. Very nice marina with a pool and hot tub and no bugs, which really surprised me. Also Famous Daves took 2 hours to bring us food so count on a long wait, they did comp the meal after my friendly "comments" on the wait. Nice permanent dockers, very friendly.

You folks are pretty lucky over there.

We see Pier 11 two - three times a year. Our family / friends hit the park for 2-4 days at a time. One of our favorite places to boat to from Michigan. For us old farts, the convenience of location to relaxation and an affordable cold one is ideal while the kids run the park from dawn to dusk. WE LOVE IT! Ocassionally the "dock parties" get a little loud/wild but it usually tames down around midnight - no big deal, just stern into the dock if you want some privacy, or aft dock if you feel like participating. And yes, the wind and timing our to/fro trips between weather fronts can sometimes be a challenge. But for me, this is therapy.

If we did not live so far away I would be there! I like to live closer to the boat so I get more use out of it...

We also have a retired Uncle who docks his 60' SeaRay in the marina (Wahoo - a beautiful boat) when he's not over at his Catawba dock. He is enjoying life at the marina too.

Marykhubby,

I dock on 14 and pass 11 whenever we go into the park. I'll be sure to look for your boat next summer and come to say "hi". It is a great place to dock, and yes, quite the party marina. It's about 50 minutes to an hour from our house. We have several friends that dock there that live in the Detroit burbs. They drive funny..LOL

Love to get together over a beer (or two) when we're in the neighborhood. We're normally around on July 4th week for sure.

I just loaded some pics of our old gal on the
Carver STICKY pics link, page 3 near the end (so you'll know what to watch for). Saw your pics - very nice. I can tell enjoy taking care of her.

Don

Thanks marykhubby...we'll be sure to look for your Carver...I'll even bring Joe along. I saw your pics too..I love what you've done with her...very clean looking boat! You know, that's the kind of boat that would fit right in as a permanent docker there at CPM

Love the guard dog pic!
We have a Standard Schnauzer, but she usually opts out of the CPM trips. More beer for us to share... She hangs with us at the home dock and goes out on local trips to lounge in coves with us. Not much of a guard dog though, unless you want to suffer "death by kisses, nuzzling, and licking".

Joe's dog will cover you in kisses...that's for sure!!!! Her tongue comes out when she sees me exiting my boat!

Yea, your right Ram.. 1st of all, she's Sheryl's dog!!! Too much work for me to take care of all that hair.. second, the dog "licks air" and anything else that gets in her way... she's a goof, but a sweetie.. :) Oh, did I mention - she's also a babe magnet.. which on occasion can tend to get me in trouble with the Admiral from time to time - depending on how cute the babe. :)

marykhubby, don't worry, pier 14 is 'dog friendly' - or so we say.. :) You'll have to wander down next time you make it to CP... would be nice to meet you. Oh yea, bring Cameo's pizza.. acutally, we only need the empty boxes.. long story..

We usually pack light and skip over to FamousDaves (convenience) but if Cameo's is as good as you say, we'll have to give it a try next summer.

I hope you are not recommending them cause ya like the box. People will start talking...

Hi marykhubby,

My wife and I like Cameo's Pizza.. not sure that many of the others do.. the boxes have a coupon on the inner flap.. and we had a ton of them saved prior to docking at CP.. but I grabbed a couple off some boxes one night messing around.. and I've never heard the end of it since.. but hey, we had enough for 3 free pizza's on our last visit.. so I can take the ribbing... so far, I've only got a couple coupons towards the next free pizza.. was trying not to keep so many around... boxes just seem to magically appear from time to time on our dock box now.. :)

hello all, I just recieved my packet from the marina we will be at Pier 3 next year. we have stayed at the marina overnight maybe 4 times this past year twice at the transient and twice at pier 11. we are also new to crusiers middle of october I bought a 1995 searay 290 and relocated it from the Tulsa area. Only got to use it a couple of times before I put it away for the winter. Still havent come up with a good name but we are leaning toward "winter blows" because we bought it and can't use it till spring. Anyway in the times we have been at the marina we have met a few people mostly from 3. And I just wanted to say hi and also if anyone has any tips, do's, don't ect anything that would be useful for the beginner.

whereabouts on 3 are you going to be? I'm on 14, but know alot of people on 3

Hey Joe - congrats on the boat, and welcome to CP!

I met you and your admiral on Dock 3 the day you looked at Scott's 290. I thought RamSport was there that day too, but since you weren't scared away, maybe you didn't meet him. :)

I'm just kidding. There are PLENTY of people on Dock 3 who are scarier than Ram - and of course, I'm friends with all of them. Hopefully, your new slip is in the cool area, somewhere between 32X and 34X...?

We met so many people that day I can't remember everyones name but i'm sure I would remeber your face. 319 I think is the slip number I dont have the papers in front of me right now. That day looking at several boats and getting advice from everyone was what pushed us to the 290. But I will say it was a long drive from Tulsa with it on a trailer. I did have it here in time to be their on the last weekend Halloween you may have seen us we were at 11 With a big blow up pumpkin on the bow. Prior to that we always stayed in our little cuddy cabin wow what a difference I'm glad we went ahead and did it. was going to include a picture of that weekend but can't figure out how to insert it.

Oh...that was YOU with the pumpkin!!!! Just kidding...welcome to Cedar Point!!!

Kenny
