Countdown....

Nahhhh, I think she can do it with a hammer and block of wood....Better things to do with the money...

What was I thinking? I should have known better.

If I didn't know what a wonderful lady Caryl was I'd have to think she was a doormat the way you treat her!

;)

Now really John, I treat her well...Instead of shoveling the driveway she has her own snow blower, which I have posted pictures of, I even bought her the little protective shed to attach to it so the snow does not blow into her face while she is out there in the wind.

I service it for her so it starts the 1st time, Oh did I mention it even has electric start so she does not get hurt trying to start it. I only get the best for her.

I will give you that Butch, you always make sure she has the best tools for the task at hand!

Less than 2 weeks to go!!!!!!

Seems my optimistic mind turned 24 into 14 when I said less than 2 weeks to go. Sorry for the false alarm... SIGH!!!!

Soooo..... Just over 3 weeks to go.

Well thats it, Told Caryl to put the honey due list back on the frig. No more house work till next winter. Weather permitting, shrink wrap comes off Saturday.

So as we approach the April 1 kickoff I think it is time to start doing some predictions of launch dates to see how close we can come.

Butch will probably beat all of us this year and I'm saying he will be wet 4/4/08 with Hogan the following Monday. (Unless they drop his genny and then it may be a while)

Having suffered a setback in my helm seat replacement I'm figuring I won't be moving till the 14th or 15th. Annoying to operate a boat without a helm seat!

Winters Remedy, MAYBE 5/3/08 with Relentless giving you company that weekend. Starry Night, hmmmm, going out on a limb here but lets say a 4/25/08 launch.

Boatbum will be launched the next time roundout floods. He's still trying to save money for retirement, the lift can be expensive!

Any other predictions?

Hummm, Im liking this...

What happenened to the seat, And no I would not want to operate the boat without it. On wave and we may have to call you Joanne.

John thanks for the financial planning advice! :D I hate to say it but that might get us in more trouble than it would be worth and I haven't painted the bottom yet. The creek is still muddy and Port Ewen has been ordered to boil drinking water until further notice.

The guy I bought the stuff from told me the new pedestal base had the same bolt pattern as what I was replacing. He was wrong and now I'm in panic modification mode. Not possible to use the old pedestal base ether. Hoping for a refund on the base he sold me, as a hundred bucks is,,, well is more than 2 cases of beer!!!

Gotta blame myself somewhat because the stuff sat in our spare bedroom for months and I never bothered to check it instead relying on the guys word. Will find a way to make something work short of taking down the ceiling in the salon as I refuse to go there!!!!!

On a related note, whats the best way to grind down one edge of a washer? Need to make "D" shaped washers.

I hear you on muddy Dan. The water at Haverstraw Marina was a color I don't think I've ever seen. I'm sure the rest of the river is not any better. The water almost gave the illusion of looking solid!

Thats what we do, Make sure you have a tight(vise grips) bite on it. They get hot and fly very easy.

Do I need to worry about the different metals? The base is cast Aluminum vs Stainless washers and bolts.

Should not have to worry, no current going thru them...I think they use stainless most of the time anyhow. Would be afraid of aluminum screws breaking with the leverage of the seat pedestal and rough water.

Thanks for all the advise. Got everything dry fitted late yesterday afternoon. Some disassembly, repair a few gouges from removing the original base, apply some sealer to the new pedestal and then ready for final assembly!

Looks pretty good and feels strong.
