It is filthy dirty, but it has been in storage for a long time so that is expected. The boat, although it may not look it, is in incredible condition. The photo's don't do it justice but are good to have to see where I started from. I will post pictures in the spring as well when I get it cleaned up and ready to go.

As you can see, it lacks alot of options (like dual dockside power, generator, AC/Heat, Oven, Cockpit Washdown, Electric Head, Hour Meters, Skiff Windshield, Spotlight, etc.) but I am willing to settle for a stripped down model for the price I got it for. It's a pretty darn nice boat for a first boat I think.

Any one here add AC/Heat to this boat or a similar sized boat? Any ideas on what it would cost me? Half tempted to just throw a window unit in the rear and call it the White Trash Yacht Club.

Have not decided on a name yet but here are the front runners:

Goody Miss Two Screws
Jimmy's Buffet
Thirsty Howell III (like Thurston from Gilligan's Island, my last name is Howell)
Grocery Getter (I sell food and will use the boat to see customers on the island)
Beer Thirty (I am pushing 30, love the beer)
Nauti Chef (I am a trained Chef)

Thanks again for everyones help!

Jim

Ram,

The hull number is CDRJ9062C686. The photo is not too clear, the second "C" may be a 0. I left the paperwork and etching at my office in Cleveland. I appreciate any info you may have. Is there any way to get a copy of the build sheet and owners manual from Carver?

Thanks,

Jim

WOW...that striping is in good shape...boathousse kept? It's a C Jim...by the serial number it was the 62nd hull made for the 1986 model year, and it was finished in March of 1986..Generic owners manuals are available, but not the build sheets...we may have one if we sold it originally..I will check.
Congratulations, it's a nice looking boat...see you at Cedar Point?

Ram,

How would I acquire a generic manual? I would like to study it! Is there a carver dealer around Sandusky?

The boat was not boathouse kept. However, it was used for one season and two weeks out of the last 10 years from what the storage facility/mechanic tells me. He was offered $ by the seller for selling it but refused, so I am relatively confident in what he says.

I don't know about Cedar Point yet. I don't know if I want to have to deal with the traffic and having to have customers and guests pay to come to my boat.

I did stop by the Sandusky Yacht Club today and they are reasonable and a very nice marina. It is one of the best values, YC wise, on lake erie. I used to work there so it might be a little wierd though.

Also considering:
Sandusky Harbor
Dock of The Bay
Huron Lagoons
and thinking of looking across the bridge in Marblehead as well.
Taking suggestions as well!

Somewhere with a nice late 20's early 30's wife material crowd is ideal!

Thanks,

Jim

The traffic at CPM isn't bad...when you learn to go in and out. As far as guests paying...you get 2 season parking passes plus a card good for 40 uses for guests. if either you or your wife are in anyone's car, just show your pass and it gets in without having to pay. CPM is also very social...our dock (14) has a good mix of ages to about 50 or so and everyone mixes well with each other...PLUS..2 season passes to the amusement park are included!!!!!

no Jim...we're the only dealer on Lake Erie, but you can call us and we'll order one for you....the manuals include info pertinent to your specific model, so they're not totally generic. They do not, however, include manuals for refrigerators, stoves, toilets, etc...Give us a call and we can order one for you...Last time I saw one ordered, it was about 50 bucks...but that was af ew years ago before I got my promotion.

not sure if this'll get "moderated" but, here goes...(four four zero) two six nine-three two zero zero...ask for parts

Ram,

Looks like I will be docking at dock of the bay in Sandusky. The view is incredible, I love the "wall" and being able to have a grill and picnic table in front of my boat. The fourth will be amazing from that vantage point. And to top it off, my house is 12 blocks away. It's not cedar point, but it makes the best sense for me for this year.

Jim

Jim,
Welcome to "aged" Carver family. We have had ours over a year, she is our first Carver, love her, and would consider another previously enjoyed Carver if I, I mean we, ever decide to upgrade.
Congratulations!!!
AJ
(considering your profession, I like Jimmy's Buffet and Nauti Chef)

I kind of like Beer Thirty, but it could sound a little ... um....trashy, I like Nauti Chef

Yes, I am stoked! Trying to get all of my house projects (flooring, painting, etc.) done before spring so I don't have to worry about the house this summer.

I was also thinking I could be really trashy and call it the W.T.Y.C.

Ram,

Did you ever find out if this one came from your dealership? I think I will call and order a manual soon, thanks for your help.

Our records don't go back that far :-(. If you can tell me waht type of gunwhale molding it has...stainless steel over rubber or rubber inside of aluminum, I can tell you for sure.

It is the rubber inside of aluminum. Just out of curiosity, how does that tell anything? Is that an after market dealer option?

Thanks,

Jim

That was the standard gunwhale molding...we never ordered our boats that way...always went with the "heavy duty" stainless over rubber...so, that boat came from Brockway Marine...which went out of business in the early 90's

I see. Is that something that I can/should upgrade to?

Thanks again for all of your help.

Jim

You can upgrade...should? Probably not, unless you plan on slamming into the dock alot LOL

Thanks. I plan to not do so. The reality however, will be completely different this season.
