The Carver section used to be extremely active on here. What happened? Just curious!

Still have mine - and hope to have it for a long time! I think the holidays have just kept everyone distracted.

Everybody's Carver must be in tip top shape with no mechanical issues or projects gone awry. I am still planning on creating a walk-thru from the bridge to the foredeck on my 27 Santego for a winter project, but haven't had the extra time.

Too busy shivering, drinking boat sodas and throwing wood in the stove. I can see the boat on the trailer in the lot all covered up with some snow on it. Shopping for items for projects in the spring. Getting ready for boat show season. I am still reading this forum to keep up with those fortunate persons still using their boats. Maybe we should be listing the spring projects that are on the list?

I am up North too. The Mariner is on the dry and shrink wrapped, so no working on it for awhile.

I would love to read about work others have done to there boats, Mariners in particular. I keep telling myself I will put together a thread on all the enhancements we have done to the boat, but just never seem to have time to put the pics together and get them online.

Happy Holidays

Too damn cold here to even think about the boat. It's shrink wrapped and napping for the winter.

I've got a zipper door in the shrink wrap so I can at least get a partial boat fix over the long winter! I've seen a 30 foot Santego on the internet with a walk-through, was that an option on the early 90s models or is that a custom job? I know they had it on the 34 Santego.

Not much doing on the boat. Saw it a few days ago to see how the cover withstood the snow and winds. I am using last years shrinkwrap for the first time. All is well. I put in the zipper door too but have not not used it yet. Will replace fuels filters in the spring.

Obviously a few people still watching. But, winter is the time for me to get away from the boat for a while so that I have more fun with it come spring.

2 projects to work on this winter...
1) need a new GPS/Sonar. We are on the Lake Winnebago chain in WI. So I don't need super high end stuff. Been watching prices and reading about the Garmin 421s. Will have to get a different transducer though... more money...
2) need to fix one of the engine compartment covers on the back deck of my '86 32 Mariner. Over time has developed some cracks and gets water logged over the summer. I think I have a line on a guy who can fix it though...

More cold weather on its way...

Voyager currently in the final stages of my repower project. Should be back in the water next week and headed to Bahamas in mid february. :)

Would love to see some pics of the more spacious engine room when you are done. Although I love my Montego, I sure do miss my Mariner and your pics will bring back great memories of my first boat!

That's par for the course, and what about your boat?

I actually did sell and even though it was the end of the season, I already miss her. Funny thing is that while I had all the problems, the new owner did 385 miles down south without a hitch. I usually had "an issue a week"......

Not sure what's next but rest assured, there IS a next.....

The Dog House is tightly tucked away in a heated storage building with plenty that I want to do to her, but it's just too darn cold to even think about it...plus, I have a boat show to get ready for.

I don't think the 3067 ever had a walk-thru flybridge, but the 300 Santego did from 1994 thru the end of the model.

Maybe it wasn't the boat...

Photos posted in the Engine forum. :) SWEET!

Now, a proper break in procedure, a couple of additional small projects then it's off to the Bahames in mid to late February.

We were selling earlier last year to move up to something with 2 staterooms but we changed our minds. We kept the Mariner which we love. Bought a nice used 40 ft houseboat for the slip next to us and we stick the overnight guests on that. Saved many thousands of dollars and the guests get their own suite complete with bath, shower, kitchen, living room, and SAT tv :)

We did do some small things to the Carver. Replaced the old cabin tv with a 32 Flat screen, upgraded our sound system and speakers and added some speakers to the tower that project sound both forward and aft which are way cool. Not only do you get great sound while underway but when anchored an your floating in the water with a nice cool beverage, you get crystal clear music and a floating waterproof remote to control it with.
