Dull black hull paint??

I want to wrap my boat to look like a giant waffle cone ice cream - would promote the store and of course I get to avoid painting the boat .... but VERY pricey! I was shocked how pricey and according to wrap guys "might" last 3 years in FL sun.
 
Hmmm.... only "maybe" 3 years. They are wrapping some big boats these day, like 80' or more. I know there are different qualities of wrap material so I would think they have something that lasts longer than that. But maybe is a function of the printing as opposed to a solid color.
 
It also depends on where the boat is kept. If it is a slip between two other boats, the hull may be more protected than if directly exposed to the sun.

Talked to friend of mine familiar with that dull black boat, ever since it s been wrapped the AC cant to keep up...
 
The AC alone would be a deal breaker for me. I can't imagine anything but white here in Florida.
 
Just more difficult to see. Particularly at night.
It also seems to me that flat black would be an invitation for attention from the legal system and their reps.

Dark colored boats are hotter than lighter ones.
They just absorb more heat. Black is worse and dull black would be even less comfortable to the point of painful,

It is the printing that will fade. A pattern cut out of a solid color vinyl will last, but when the image is printed on the vinyl the inks will fade. Certain colors fade faster than others.

You can apply higher priced laminates that will help resist fade also but nothing's going to stop the Florida sun.
