Getting some of these dates can be tougher then you might imagine.
Ossning and Haverstraw July 3.
Nyack July 4
West point July 7

I will be in Bowline I'm assuming rafted with all the usual suspects, Hank as always you are welcome to come in. I believe Victoria will be there as well I did get an email copy of this post so I'm assuming that's the plan:)

Mike you are welcome to join us as well if you would like!

Not if you guys run your genny's all night.

Can't make any promises. If it's hot there is a good chance they will be running. Last week was the first time I haven't run it overnight, it was a cool night I barely run it at all other then to charge the batteries a few times.

Is it the noise or are you concerned about the CO from the Diesel's that's concerns you?

Smell, noise & CO. I like to wake up alive. On our raft-ups, the rule is no genny's overnight.

Rules are made to be broken! Gas motors scare me but I do have three CO sensors on board the noise really never bothered me I know you have a thing about the smell maybe it's me but I like it in moderation. Most boats in our raft ups are Diesel and with all I have read you should get plenty of warning from a diesel before CO poisoning.

Besides we need a new anchor Nazi I heard you were the man.

I have no problem being the anchor nazi, as well as the generator nazi. Simple rule, gas or diesel, no genny's overnight. It's worked fine for us for 20+ years, not going to make an exception for diesels now...

I'll likely join and if it's hot and muggy I'll be running my gen. No problem if I have to break off from the party. On the other hand we could have one side where the cool and comfortable boats are and the other side where the quiet and odor free boats live.

Benny and I are on a first name bases I don't want to piss him off by not inviting him to the party:) I'll come visit by dink.

Ah, nothing like Loading your neighbor up with fumes. Agree with mike, not at night.

Interesting dilemma. It is nice to cool down at nite. I never run mine all nite. Occassionally I will fire it up if I cant sleep to cool down the cabin for ten minutes then shut it down. (Mike-Is that illegal?) I also hate that I cant keep my hatch open because fumes and noise are coming in from other boats. There is nothing like waking up early in the pond and enjoying a cup of coffee in total silence. Anyway we can run an extension cord from land?

Both enginse emit CO2 and therefore can kill if exposed in high concentration. If you are sleeping in a cabin, you may die faster with gas but either way, you could wake up dead.

Actually, it's CO that kills you, but your point is exactly why we don't run them at night. In all the nights I have spent on the hook, I have never needed AC.

You will get sick and begin to vomit way before you die from a diesel genset, unlike gas genny which can kill you in your sleep.

"As of August 1, 1998 the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), the organization that writes the voluntary standards for recreational boats, began recommending that all boats with enclosed accommodation areas and a gasoline generator or a gasoline inboard propulsion engine have a CO detector installed.

(Diesel engines are not included because they are much less likely to produce deadly levels of CO.) "

Interesting article. It appears that gasemits 10 to 100 times more Co than diesel. Does that mean that it would the odds are ten time less likely I would die from diesel? I absolutely am not disagreeing that gas is far wores then diesel but it seems you are still playing a dangerous odds game. I have been on the hook and smelled strong diesel fumes in my cabin from other boats. Should I not be conerned?
